(Broadcast towers of Cedar Hill in background... they allow me stunning HDTV from my 20 buck rabbit ear antenna from my condo... Only way to get High Def channel 8 as Charter doesn't have it any more.)

Of course you are looking straight at the Sea of Tranquility, where the Apollo 11 landed. (For you youngsters, this was the first mission to the Moon)

If you get bored one day, could you set your tripod about where you are on that last shot and take a series of shots throughout the day and turn it into a nice slideshow with fade transitions? I'd love to see that, even though it would be pretty depressing in some respects. I could stare at that instead of my neighbors' house.
What a view.

Thanks for the tip! I did just upload 3 of my lightning pics to Weather.com (Weather Channel)
I was sure at the right place at the right time Friday morning. It was everything I wanted in a lightning storm. (Except rain, as I didn't get a drop.)
I regretted posting those pictures in the "Today's T Storm" as many people slept through the storm Friday morning and have not looked at that thread. Should have posted them in Photo section or even "The skies" I think.
Unless a lightning bolt spells out Fort Worth or something, I think that was as good as it gets. Though I guess I will catch a hit to a skyscraper at some point. A man told me the other day he saw a bolt hit one downtown a year ago. (Just when I got through convincing my wife that lightning does not hit skyscrapers...) It does make me wonder how often, and what the consequences are, to big buildings. Have never heard of skyscraper lightning damage.

I did send The Weather Channel my lightning pictures from Friday. (Posted on "Today's T Storms" in the Miscellaneous section of this Forum.)
I just got an e-mail from an old friend that said they showed my pictures several times last night and this morning on the Weather Channel. I just went to their web site (Weather.com) and one of my shots is on their home-page.
I'm stink'n famous. (Well at least stink'n.) Thanks again for the tip.

Because I am a "way amateur" astronomer, I am always aware of the moon and planets cycle. Had my camera ready for a 10:08 pm moon-rise, was disappointed by the Eastern clouds, and continued watching the Olympics. Then I saw the lightning/moon combo. (missed the best moments scrambling for my tripod.) In my condo my photo moments are like General Quarters in the Navy. While my wife runs for my tripod in the hall closet, I am attaching the action lens and flying out on the balcony.
I have photoshop V5.0. Pretty sure it is the version Abraham Lincoln used by candle light. But I do love it and use it. (No pro at it.)

(Notice: I am not making a claim that this is a classic hurricane shot... just interested me.)
BTW: You can see the elevator going up the Transport Life Building. They were working all Labor Day.
(I did not see chains on their ankles, however.)

These two shots is as close as I will get until April. And was still too cloudy (Tail of hurricane Ike between the sun and Dallas) but just a preview what I am going to get on a clear day with the Sun behind Downtown Dallas.

Wanning gibbous moon rising over North Dallas. It is heading North quickly, opposite the sun in it's annual cycle.

Thanks. And then here are three from this morning. (my wife would say, "Don't encourage him...)
Interesting weather rolling in this morning. Fast clouds going in opposing directions. And nice air!
There was lightning and thunder. Unpredicted for the AM. I think it must have rained NE of Downtown.
Thought about posting this one in the Omni section but figured that was a stretch!

I was walking around downtown yesterday and when I glimpsed the tower I was wondering if big brother(monee) was watching. Kind of creepy.
Can you see the new restaurant being built in the Carter Burgess building from your viewpoint?

Kind of creepy? You'll be begg'n for a shot of that UFO landing in Sundance Square some day!
And I don't know anything about a new restaurant in Carter Burgess. (I would if it was like a Luby's or a Baker Brother's)
I have noticed, like on the sixth floor, it is bright all night all the way around with work going on.
I have included this shot to refresh some restaurant savvy Forum Member's culinary memory cells.

One thing I wish you could do - I, like a lot of other photographer nuts, are interested in the EXIF information (camera, focal length, f setting, shutter speed, iso etc. and have programs that allow you to right click on the picture and get the info. I can't seem to get that in your pictures. It could be my program or you might check to make sure they are embedded in the file.
Keep shooting!!

Interesting. I have a Canon EOS XSi. Like all other Canon's (or any modern camera I assume) all the data can be had on a picture just for asking. (CTRL+I) Except, after I reduce the file size to make it manageable for uploads/downloads. Then that data is gone. I don't understand why. Maybe somebody out in TV land can explain that for us. I also wonder if posting my pic on FLICKR or PICOODLE causes a pic to lose that data. (I wouldn't know because I always downsize first.)
And while I am on this thread, here is a strange pic I took at 5:10 this morning. A way crescent waning moon resting on the the Carter Burgess Building. (May have gotten stuck in the antenna's)

Four pics. (Yes I am getting redundant.) 15mm, 60mm and 400mm and 400mm cropped. (You'll see) This is the first time I realized that you could see another planet's moons without a telescope. And without a clock drive running. Not too clear, true, but definite.
15mm
60mm
400mm
Cropped 400mm pic to show at least 4 of Jupiter's 22 moons.
