( I see that I can't go back and add the missing "A" to the subject -- sorry)

I know we rarely discuss houses here, presumably to protect privacy.  But there is a house that caught my eye a few weeks ago and after doing some research, it is very well documented online and the property appears to be owned by an investment company, and so I don't think that they are going for privacy.

More importantly, it is interesting design and and an interesting build, and I think people here would enjoy following the project.

I have no affiliation with them, other than living 1/2 mile away and being a little envious of the quality of work going on after having some challenges with my own project.

You sure that's not a mid-century modern motel?  :P

They've been working on the foundation forever.  Looks like a house more in line with Newport Beach, Paradise Valley, or Beverly Hills than Fort Worth.

I guess I'm old fashioned because this design doesn't seem to me to lend itself to cozy-comfort living.  Looks more like a motel or mixed-used office project.

The extensive foundation reminds me of that modern house on Colonial Parkway just to the west of Log Cabin Village.  It was under construction for years and the foundation and first floor work took more than a year.

It might not be to everyone's tastes, but I am happy that someone is willing to do something like this in our city again.  There are some interesting houses hidden away around the city, some you can find pictures of online like the Paul Rudolph Bass home, or the IM Pei Tandy home.

I think houses like these speak of people who care about architecture and being brave with architecture, and that could lead to good things in our city.  So many houses are covered in stucco and measured by how many turrets they have.

I like to see anything that required thought, even if they get a few things wrong.

I like it a lot, but I'm a sucker for MCM architecture.  I like the way it utilizes the elevation change to make it look like 2 completely different houses when looking at it from the street vs. the downhill view.

They have updated the renderings in the first link of my initial post so you can get a better sense of how the materials and textures will work.

Saw a link on Facebook promoting a "pre-drywall party" at this residence this Saturday evening and "Everyone is Welcome" to enjoy music and see the home from 5-10 PM.

1. That sounds cool.

2. I cannot imagine how much $$ has been spent on this thing.  I'm estimating 2.5 years of construction at this point, and they haven't even hung a sheet of drywall.

Oh wow, weve driven by this house and thought it would be so cool to check it out. Do you have the Facebook link?

I wonder who's doing the roofing on this project? (inside joke)

Nice photos. Great view. I like the stairs down to down the hill. Were there a lot of people at the stud party?
