I am very saddened to learn our great friend, Jack White died at 11pm last night.
A hero to any that love Fort Worth. A total inspiration to many in this City.

For those of you new to Fort Worth, most of the old photos of this city were either taken by Jack White, or secured by Jack White. He wrote many books. (Maybe the leading author on the JFK assassination.) I have known Jack for about 20 years. I know many of you have known him much longer. A total class act and the biggest lover of Fort Worth. Ever.

I will miss Jack greatly.

Thank you for putting an introduction about him in your post. I'd never heard of him. (So many times people put a name out there like it's a household name, when it isn't).

Very sad news, indeed. Jack and I shared old Fort Worth images and the stories behind them for the better part of 30 years. His efforts to locate and preserve historic photographs saved many priceless images from disappearing. His recent project that brought historians and collectors together to create the compilation, "Fort Worth...the way we were," on this website will benefit researchers and students of local history for years to come. Remarkable man- remarkable legacy. I will miss him very much. We all will.

I will miss him, as well. He was a great contributor to this web site and we wouldn't have any historical photographs on Fortwortharchitecture.com, if it wasn't for him. His contribution to the site was immense.

RIP, Jack. The collection of photographs of Fort Worth you leave behind is truly wonderful. I'm glad they're available on this website. I'd bet that all Fort Worth-lovers would want to offer a hearty thank you for your work.

I really wanted to take pictures. But my wife convinced me that only Jack would appreciate that.
Sue, Jacks wife, seemed great. (Wife visited with her briefly.) I met Sue before Jack. 20 years ago.

I think the city's flags should be flying at half mast for Dear Jack.

My condolences go out not only to Mr. White's family, but also to his friends and acquaintances, which I can see he made many over his long and productive life. I regret that I never had the opportunity to ask him about some details and background info concerning his amazing photographs. Like a couple of posters have said, he's left behind a wealth of photos chronicling the history of Fort Worth during the majority of the 20th Century. The proverbial "torch" has now been passed on to you, the visual chroniclers of Fort Worth in the 21st Century.

Godspeed, Mr. White, and thank you VERY, very much.

John, I admit I am a bit disappointed that the Star Telegram did not give the URL to get to The Way We Were on your site. A pretty easy search just the same but wish they would have gone went extra step to say, "Look at this amazing collection of Jack's at www.xxxx"

And John, we are all grateful to you for giving Jack the ability to get his amazing stuff out. And also to get it really organized. I bet many of us are wondering the same thing. Is his material safe on the site? A geek at work was telling me they have the ability to back up every item on a web site. curious where those digital photos are stored. For example, my photos are on different servers, like FLIKR and Photobucket. All my first few years was on a site that went out of business and those photos are gone and just leave placeholder notices.

I've been away from the FW Forum for a while but there's little I could add that hasn't already been said about the best photographer of Fort Worth life in the 20th Century. I never met the man personally but have long admired his work. He left a wonderful photographic legacy and some very big shoes to fill.

I wanted to mention this sad news. Jack White's wife (of 42 years) Sue, died on Sunday. She was a grand lady. My wife worked with Sue for years. Is how I met Jack. I remember pointing Jack to the Fort Worth Forum while at an art exhibit on Camp Bowie.

My wife is going to Sue's funeral this morning (Wednesday) at Mt. Olivet.

Such terrific people. Sue and Jack. Fort Worth should always be grateful to them.

It's very sad that we lost both Jack and Sue within a period of a few months.
