You all have probably wondered why I haven't been posting as much.  Here's the answer.  After 65 years and a lot of dental work, some of my teeth finally gave out in the middle of March.  Due to some other dental issues, we decided that the best course of action was dental implants.  On the Friday of Main Street, I went in for oral surgery to remove most of my upper front teeth.  I have been following up weekly with the periodontist, who performed the first phase of the surgery.  One of my follow ups was on the Friday of the April Forum Meeting, and that's why I couldn't make it.  I have been fitted with a temporary bridge, but I can't eat with it.  It also doesn't fit the greatest and the first thing, when I removed it, a crown on one of the remaining teeth was taken off.  Due to a couple of jaw bone defects, I will be headed toward bone grafts in a few months.  The periodontist said that this process will take anywhere from four months up to possible a year.  For two weeks, I was on a liquid diet and now I can eat soft foods.  I have tried to work as many hours as I could because I can't afford to miss work.  Even though I feel pretty good, I'm pretty tired when I get home. I wanted to let you all know what was going on with me.  I have another followup procedure on Friday at Noon, so I will be missing the forum meeting again this month.

All the best to you during this process and hoping for a quick and smooth recovery. I bet that must be tough adapting to a liquid and soft food diet. Please dont hesitate to reach out should you need anything.

Thank you, Nitixope.  I appreciate the offer.  I think all of my friends who live close to me have been able to take care of my needs.

On a side note, if you want to lose weight, try a liquid diet for a little bit.

That sounds like a long and not fun process. Wishing you all the best and a quick recovery.

Thank you for your prayers and concern.  It actually hasn't been all that bad.  I have a great oral surgeon and I have not been in much pain, so far.  The only negative is the diet.  I went to lunch at On The Border with my friend Kalleen this afternoon, and turned the whole bowl of chips over to her.  Ground beef enchiladas are soft enough for me to eat.  I have been eating a lot of pasta and fish.  For fruits and vegetables, I have been eating bananas, avocados, ripe tomatoes, potatoes, and watermelon.

Hopefully, this will be a better solution for me.  I have always taken care of my teeth, but my family's genetics has not been kind to me in that department.

Have a speedy recovery.  From what I've read and seen on TV commercials, dental implant technology has advanced considerably.

It is a fairly common problem. Get well soon.

Thanks, gdvanc.  I'm actually doing well.  This month, I don't have any appointments, so I will be able to make the Forum Meeting at Benito's.  I will probably not eat, but will grab a milkshake from Braum's on the way back to the office.
