From the upcoming Historic & Cultural Landmarks Commission. Developer plans to demo the old Adobe Western Gallery buildings, which are in poor condition.

Yesterday, when I first saw this case, the only thing that was posted was the photograph of the existing building.  Since yesterday, the full staff report, structural report, photographs, and the entire packet has been posted.  The information shows the poor condition of the existing building.

Some of my thoughts,

The Adobe buildings are not worth saving in my mind.

The new building is nice. I hate that it only occupies about 1/3 of the street frontage, with the rest being parking. The new building will have to go before the UDC so hopefully they can recommend some changes to better fit the environment. Perhaps the grade of the site could allow an amount of underground parking?

The connection depicted between N. Main and The Drover is interesting. Its a good idea, but also seems like it could be a little better done. Hopefully the West side of Saunders Park will get a facelift now that the East side has with the Mule Alley development.

If you're going to replace the old building, the new building ought to replace the surface parking as well.

Several representatives from Historic Fort Worth, Inc., including myself met with a representative from Bennett Partners, the Historic Preservation Officer, Carlos Flores, and the contractor for the project to tour 2326 N. Main in late June, before the Landmarks Commission Meeting.  We all had a chance to see the deterioration of the building.  The building is in bad shape and what amazed me is that each successive addition toward the creek was closer to collapsing to the east.  2326 N. Main is not located in the Stockyards National Register Historic District boundaries, but it is located in the City of Fort Worth Stockyards Historic District Boundaries.  We all agreed that Historic Fort Worth, Inc. will have some input in the design of the new structure that is going to be built at this location.  When that design is finalized, it will have to go before both the Landmarks Commission and the Urban Design Commission.

Well if a new building has to be built so be it. I do like the two patios that embraces not only the street but the water on the other side. Maybe some Mexican style black iron fencing and not just a wall for the patios ? Seem like the windows could use some iron decorations as well.

The renderings shown were just the owner's ideas for the project.  He is open to a more fleshed out design with input from others.

Back when the adaptive re-use of Mule Alley was proposed, Historic Fort Worth had input on the design of that project.  We didn't get our wishes on everything, but I think the project turned out much better than it would have without our input.  I served as one of HFW's representatives.  It was also good to work with Michael Bennett, one of my classmates in Graduate School at UTA.

My understanding is this will be a new retail location and corporate hq for the company, currently they are based in San Diego.

Is the saloon and grill still in the mix too?

If it's going to be a corp HQ I seriously doubt it... unless they partition it into 2 units I don't see how it would work.  Kind of a shame really.

Its a pretty small company they probably just need the 2nd and 3rd floor for office space.

Their San Diego HQ location is a suite in a simple tilt wall warehouse building.  I'm guessing this is mainly a shipping / receiving hub with boots handmade in Leon, Mexico.  I'm also guessing the FW location is more of an exhibit space and office / meeting space with other uses.

Their President and co-founder, Ernie Tarut has a residence here in Fort Worth according to the permit filings.

These are the updated renderings, done after the first site meeting that we had with the architect, contractor, and city officials.  Our meeting was on June 29 and the renderings are dated July 8.

Great find longhorn!  I had looked that address up from the permit listing and was quite impressed with the property but Forum rules prohibit sharing that sort of detail so I let it ride.  This is a pretty exciting story though, glad you found this info.  I'm usually the last to find out what's really happening around here so now I know.  I'd be curious if Old Gringo is also moving their distribution hub to FW.  There's plenty of new warehouse space over by the south end of the airport along 183 and Valley View.

I think that article hits home one of the things that we have brought up -- we need more executive housing in Fort Worth because it is business owners who bring businesses here.

Good point. Where downtown or near downtown would someone making seven plus figures live that had New York level amenities? It seems like a lot of urban living has focused on those in their 20s and 30s.

Guess that depends where in NYC you're trying to match.  Realistically very few (if any) cities in the US or world can match the diversity, depth and quality of NYC amenities.  But your point is still valid - where could realistically appeal to the same person who has grown accustomed to super amenity rich places?   As the Cultural District/W 7th Corridor gets built out more the stretch from Downtown to museums will have a pretty strong offering relative to most US cities.  The apartments being built by Crescent should be exec-level apartments, so to speak.  The Deco might be as well.

Best to offer a diverse set of excellent living environments from semi-rural to urban (and all points between) to appeal not only to individuals but entire teams of people to relo here.

Would The Stayton at Museum Way, The Tradition at Clearfork (soon to be) and Trinity Terrace be leaders as far as amenities and luxury living for those of qualifying age (and means)?

That carport / 2nd / 3rd level section in back looks like a design afterthought.

It looks a little naked.   A cornice of some sort would give it a little more interest and draw your attention up.

I'm not real sure Tim Love would open another restaurant at this location.  Atico, on the top floor of the Springhill Suites is one of his restaurants, and Lonesome Dove is just right up the street.

It doesn't look like any plans seem to connect this to Saunders Park like some of the previous renderings showed.  That is a bit disappointing but totally understandable at this point.
