Wow, OK this Austin supertall just hit national news:

Love the height but the design is almost comical.

Yeah, I'm not really a fan of that one and not so much the super skinny towers, as well.

I thought that was just be a Manhattan thing, but I guess Austin wants to jump on that bandwagon, too.

Hard to believe in about 2005 Austins downtown looked like a suburban office park and now they will have two 1000 foot skyscrapers.

After this tour, I think I'm going to start using my GoPro Hero 7 Black instead of my Nikon D3300 DSLR to film city tours.

When I was filming my Austin tour, there were two occasions where mentally ill people wanted my DSLR camera. Thankfully my dad was with me, but I can't have someone with me on every tour.

My GoPro is smaller and less attention grabbing, so hopefully the mentally ill (or anyone for that matter) won't notice it as easily.

Also, the dynamic range capability of my DSLR is poor, resulting in shadows that are too dark while buildings in sunlight are blown out / too bright.

The dynamic range of my GoPro is better. And, the stabilization of my GoPro is better, so my warp stabilizer shouldn't have to work as hard.

Though, there are two big issues with using my GoPro instead: the inability to optically zoom and the lack of an audio port to record external audio.

Dylan, I think you can use one of these mic input adapters for the GoPro Hero 7 Black and then go in with a 3.5mm cable:

They sell a housing kit that has a mount for the adapter and the mic shoe:

Wow... I never realized that GoPro mic adapters existed... or that GoPro cameras are even capable of processing external audio.

The one big issue that remains is the inability to optically zoom if I want to show something distant. I've looked into zoom lens adapters, but they don't exist.

I see a lot of YouTubers do an instantaneous zoom of their GoPro footage in post production. Its kind of cheesy but meant to highlight a persons reaction, a license plate etc and usually grainy in quality but effective if only used in short bursts. Its really just an editing trick. Xiaomanyc does it in almost all of his polyglot videos. Heres an example:

The Supertalls are Coming to Austin.  This is a story regarding the rapidly changing skyline of Austin and what is coming down the pike.  The story is from Bloomberg.

I have been to Austin a few times since they started the massive change to their skyline, and I have to say that I haven't been too impressed with the streetscape.  The only part of Downtown that I still like is along Congress.  There are enough historic buildings left on the street that it has some character.

I think it looks neat! Let's build a few of these in Fort Worth!  ^_^

Well to each his own.  It's is too basic for me and it looks like a large paperclip.  The only thing impressive is the height.
