This isn't a new bar or restaurant or any thing like them, but I have long thought that this is a thing that is a natural fit for Downtown.

Fort Worth gets a Steinway Hall Showroom at Bass Performance Hall!

Rename, since we have been discussing duplicate threads, the announcement that the Steinway Hall Showroom was going to relocate from Camp Bowie to 500 Commerce was posted in a thread by you on November 27, 2018 under the general heading of Downtown Fort Worth.  I will admit there is a problem on the forum with duplicates and searching, but I'm just not real sure how to solve it.

I agree,  this looks bad.

We do have have threads that announce restaurants, etc. and I thought that it might be a good idea to have a thread that announces  other types of retail or stores  or things that could be put under a single umbrella.

Announcing openings or closing based upon their location (Sundance Square, West Bend. Clear Fork, etc.) presumes that you know what businesses are located in these developments.

You are welcome to delete this thread and put in under the general synopsis of Downtown.

Maybe I should pull the announcement post over here.

Wait a minute... I thought Sundance Square is evil, and that we should boycott them and their tenants.

At least, that's what you've been trying to convince us over the past few years.

What I have hoped to convince y'all is that Downtown and Sundance Square are not one in the same.

And yes, SDSQ is predatory, monopolistic and is willing to assert its influence beyond its immediate trading area to hamper its competition .  In my book, those are things that could easily cross the line of being the acts of an evil greedy genius for a start;  but at the least, they are not the actions of an operator governed entirely by having a good or benevolent character.

I think that the decision for Steinway to locate adjacent to Bass Performance Hall is a natural fit; no where else in Fort Worth would be more ideal; and I have said so.

I want all of Downtown to flourish, SDSQ also, but I will not remain silent when a project to benefit other points of interests in Fort Worth, such as the DASH, is configured to pass through SDSQ without any other reason but to give SDSQ a shout out.

A couple of things for this thread:

A very long time back, although not mentioned, I feel like there was an Orvis at the SE corner of 4th & Main.  Maybe it wasn't Orvis, but it was similar; for sure had Fly Fishing gear.

The other thing is that, as I have said in other threads in the past, I don't understand the resentment of Sundance Square.  They own 35 blocks (!) of downtown.  If that were 100 small businesses in an association that convinced DASH to come close to them, would they be called out?

I feel strongly that, love them or hate them, they were willing to invest their money into downtown during a time when no one else would, and I commend them for that.

Honestly, my biggest concern is that they run out of the right kind of inertia here since the plaza has been built -- we need strong advocates willing to invest in making our downtown great.

First, read the link to the FWBP; it ought to answer the maybe or maybe not question.

BTW--this is a second attempt at a fly fishing store at Chapel Hill, which advertised and carried Orvis products.

Roverone, I do believe it was an Orvis dealer that was located at the SE Corner of 4th & Main.

A few months ago, when Third Street Bar & Grill shut down, you celebrated by posting: "Hooray. Another Sundance Square overreaching flop."

When I called you out on it, you basically said you were boycotting Sundance Square businesses:

[SNIP]

It may be viewed as being in poor taste to have no sympathy for businesses that are tenants of Sundance Square Corporation but out of principle I think that I will no longer patronize Sundance Square Corporation as long as it continues to behave as a pariah masquerading behind a quaint and charming image. Fortunately for me, there is an abundance of wonderful areas within Fort Worth to patronize other than Downtown Sundance Square Corporationand I plan to do so.

FWIW, I agree that the location of the new Steinway Hall is a natural fit.
