Mayor Price just announced that the city will be buying Broadcast hill and integrating it into the Tandy Hills Natural Area.

This is a very wise decision and purchase.  I'm glad to see the prairie preserved.

Lived nearby growing up.  Glad future generations will get to enjoy it like I did.

Luke Ranker has lots of details about both the Tandy Hills plan and the city's long-term program to prioritize and preserve other properties still in their natural state.

Any word on a plan for the former office and broadcast buildings for NBC5?  I had heard at one time discussion about the police department using them and moving all of the detectives from the office space in Sundance Square there.

Some professional photographers are abusing Tandy Hills with litter, props, and walking off of the marked trails and onto the sensitive plant life.  The city is promising to adopt similar rules and permit requirements to the Botanical Gardens.  Don Young says that isn't good enough and that commercial photography should be banned.  And apparently he is very aggressively letting photographers know that that they aren't welcome, both in person and on social media.  Even those that are following the rules.

I've shot out there a lot, following the rules of course. It's a problem everywhere, parts of the Stockyards and T&P Warehouse are also often covered in glitter and chalk paint.

I'm sure the COVID situation has exasperated that with more folks going outside over the summer.

The City officially purchased Broadcast Hill in June for $610,000: https://www.star-tel...e243824967.html

For a long time I've been interested in the hill that is West of Tandy Hills, overlooking I-30, where apparently there used to be a steakhouse. There is an incredible view of downtown from there. I've seen it discussed on the forum. I decided to check out the owner info for that hill/general area because I knew there had been a for sale sign up some time in the last couple years. I found that 2 companies purchased a large chunk of that land last September (2022). Hard to say if they are just holding the land or if the companies have a history of ground-up development, but I thought I'd throw this out there and see if any of you are good at looking that type of information up or have heard anything about this area. One of the companies holds about 30 acres to the West of the hill and the other company holds about 14 acres on the hill (Not sure if posting the LLC/corporation names is against forum rules) Seems like it could be a great area for a decent size corporate campus or something of the sort. I'd love to see the view be utilized somehow and be open to the public.

As a side-note, I have sketches somewhere of the bike/coffee shop that I dreamed of opening on the hill. Just needed a pedestrian bridge to connect it to Gateway Park and a few million dollars to make it a reality

Should it not surprise me there's a disgusting pad site right in the middle of it?

I thought this was a neat idea:

I like that you mention an old steakhouse

I have the vaguest of memories as a child going to a restaurant (likely late 80s or early 90s), that I thought was in this area, having big windows and liking to watch bunny rabbit scamper by while eating... does anyone have more info or photos of the restaurant?

Just realized that most of the property that I posted above is actually for sale: https://www.zillow.c...97739470_zpid/?

Should we pool our money and open up "The Fort Worth Forum Live™?"

Someone should submit this to he citys conservation program.
They would probably have an interest in purchasing the property.

The CoFW was able to purchase the 53-acre Broadcast Hill land for ~$11,500/acre. This 31.3-acre listing's asking price is ~$41,500/acre.

I went for a walk in the tandy hills area on Sunday afternoon with my wife and our dog. The presence of the homeless population is impossible to miss. it feels like the push from the encampments at 1-30/1-35 has stopped here.  I've also seen the increase of tents and camp fires across the street from our neighborhood along Oakland just north of 1-30.

Overall didn't seem like a good place for a hike, we came across several campsites in the first seven-ten minutes of our walk, before leaving as we didn't want the dog to get into things he shouldn't.
