My business partner and I operate a small construction company based in southeast Ft Worth. We have outgrown the office space in our warehouse/shop and would like to construct a new (real) office building adjacent to it. The building we have in mind is approximately 3500 sq/ft, concrete or masonry exterior, with a modern industrial finish out.

Should I start with an architect? or a builder?

Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Sorry for the quick reply (I was cooking) what I meant was perhaps look into finance options if you are needing a construction loan to help establish a rough budget based on how much your business qualifies for lending or maybe you have that covered already. That information could help steer your conversations about design, material selection, finishes etc.

Ah. No loans involved... but our money is not limitless.

You could start with either one first, but I would recommend starting with the architect.  He could tell you what size of building your site would support.  Everyone here is fortunate in that your Forum Creator and Administrator is an architect.  My firm is Halbach-Dietz and you can call me at your convenience at 817-737-0725 x14.  I'm not in charge of marketing, but you can call me and we can start the discussion.  Then, one of the partners in the firm can jump in our conversation and take it from there.

Very nice! I do not know any architects (just kidding John) but if you need a local general contractor to bid your project you might look into Fast-Trak Construction. The owners John and Anna Cicur are good people they have been around a long time.

Domeo is another local contractor doing that type of work.

Thanks John, I will give you a call tomorrow!

Thanks! Those are both great leads. Do you know much about Domeo?

Not especially but I saw they did both of the Camp Bowow locations including the renovation on Eastchsse Pkwy. I also saw they were working on a building at W Vickery and Montgomery St. was not sure if that was their new office or a project.

I have heard of both contractors, but I haven't worked with either one.
