About Me

I was stationed at the former Carswell Air Force Base (now NAS FtW) from 1971-1973. I loved checking out the area back then in great detail and I like to make return trips to Fort Worth every couple of year to see what has changed...and what has remained the same. Mr. Roberts' exquisite and complete website is a means for me to stay current on developments, and reflecting on the history and old haunts!

I was a history major in college, plus I have always had a deep interest in commercial buildings, particularly department stores and other retail businesses.

"Fort Worth Architecture" is a wonderful means by which to compile and retain historical perspectives on Fort Worth. Continued best wishes!

Just about anything from Fort Worth history. I loved living in Fort Worth in the early 1970s when downtown had the active department stores, Leonard's, Monnig's. Stripling, the local banks, specialty stores and historic hotels and theaters.
This weblog is my means to stay current on what's happening and being developed. I do recall in my two years at Carswell Air Force Base in NW FtW, that it seemed that three or four large regional malls were opening EACH year in FtW, Dallas and the Mid-City area of the Metroplex. Reading all of your memories, reminds me of why and how I became instantly in love with Fort Worth. More power to you on continuing your fine initiative and ongoing project so tirelessly and dedicatingly!
