Here's another article with a picture of the view you described.

Both articles are from before the pandemic. Does anyone know if it's still moving forward?

You can see it lit up pretty prominently in the aerial footage on the playoff TV coverage.

This is a huge 1M SQFT hotel and new convention center project and a separate hotel from Texas Live!  It has been in the news since last year so please forgive me if I missed an existing thread on this.  Previous threads discussed the MGM Grand project but is an 888-key Loews Hotel and New Arlington Convention Center appears to be gaining a lot of momentum to start within a couple of months.  I believe the big garage is already underway with another players garage to be built as well.  I don't know if the residential portion 280-units mentioned in the article is still part of this project or not.

https://www.prnewswi...-300976616.html

The strange thing about the site layout is this main façade shown here overlooks the old ballpark?  Seems to be about 20-years too late to be perfectly situated overlooking the stadium from your hotel room had they still played baseball there today:

Loews_Hotels_Arlington_Texas_Rendering.j

This building design resembles the one by Merriman Anderson Architects that we thought would be the Omni Hotel expansion in downtown Fort Worth (see the Potential CC Hotels, Post #3, Commercial thread for the art drawing).

I was in the area on Saturday and there was already a lot of work happening on the ground.

This should also be a wake-up call for the City of Fort Worth.

I think our city has had plenty of wake-up calls -- we're just really good at hitting that "snooze" button.

Is this larger than any Fort Worth hotel?  Isn't the Omni Fort Worth's largest hotel and isn't it around 600 rooms?

As much as I hate to see the Fort Worth Convention Center Arena go away, it may be time for the City of Fort Worth to get the ball rolling on the demolition and the expansion of the CC.  Maybe if this happens, the Omni will move forward with their addition to expand to 1,000 rooms.  Then, there is the new 1,000 room hotel directly attached to the CC that is also a part of the plan.

The Ocho Hotel is one of my surveying projects.

John, when you say they should tear down the Convention Center Arena, are you referring to the E-Sports stadium?

Andy, I was referring to the Fort Worth Convention Center.  I will edit my post to make it more clear.

Ah, my bad. I was mistaking your comment for the little convention center/e-sports arena near the Arlington Sheraton.

I know in the early times about our convention center remodel, the idea was we were going to wait for Dickies Arena to be built.

I'm sure that COVID got in the way of everything.

COVID did delay things.  The Dickies Arena was only open a short time before the pandemic closed it temporarily.  Then the City put on hold the plans to expand the Convention Center.  I'm sure that things will start to get back on track soon with these plans.

That's a nice perspective.  Thanks for sharing those.

Have you done any Jackals games yet?  I wonder what sort of attendance they are seeing?

I directed their second game, but haven't done any since, I would guess there was about 3,000 fans there, good showing in the new grandstands that would have been left field.  They seemed into the game and had a surprising showing of people who seemed to understand the rules.  Certainly far better attendance the NTSC sees!

Loews topping off today.

Soy Cowboy (restaurant) to anchor Loews Hotel.  Hope the food sounds better than the name.

...I'm Cowboy?

What?

Unless they're talking about "Soi Cowboy", a red light district in Bangkok and it just translates to "Soy" over here?

It says its Asian food so Im guessing its just a reference to soy sauce. Pretty dumb name though, Im sure some people in a board room somewhere thought they were super clever coming up with a Texan/Asian themed name that even rhymes!

I immediately thought it was "I am cowboy", but with the Asian theme, I guess it could be both.  It's the same parent company that's behind B&B Butchers.

Sort of not behind a paywall:

https://therealdeal....g-in-arlington/

If they demo this building as the article indicates, this could be a pretty impressive implosion.  A little historical connection: some remnants of the old Seven Seas amusement park are in the pool area.  I believe there are a couple of buildings that are still left.
