Buccee's could hand deliver their barbecue to my car in the parking lot and I still wouldn't try it again.

I would bet the rebuttal from CFA would be that takes away some of the freshness of made to order food.  No matter how fast you're moving it, something is going to stay out on the line longer than they would like.  That said, what you described is how CFA (and other fast food outlets like Burger King) delivered food at the student unions at UNT and UTA many moons ago.

You need to use their app for ordering if you go there with any frequency.  It's never let me down and you get free stuff.

I've never tried the order ahead but I've seen people doing that, so maybe that's the right approach if you don't mind walking in.

It probably varies depending on the location, but often if you order ahead you go to a designated parking spot and they bring it out to you.

I sincerely appreciate them putting in the time, money, and effort to build this out, but wow. This thing will have been under construction for a year. Maybe the margins on pizza are very very good.

Anyway, this will be a great addition to Magnolia.

Planet Sub downtown has closed.  That was a great place for a sub sandwich and was kinda an institution to downtown lunch goers.  Sad to see it go.

Walking home from Osteria 61 this evening we noticed that Planet Sub on 7th and Lamar had a "Hiring staff and restaurant managers" in the window, and the "For Lease" sign was down.  Any one know what the plans are for that space?  Is Planet Sub reopening?  BTW, Osteria 61 was terrific, beautiful, and very crowded, and many in the place were dressed to the nines.  I haven't seen people in "dressing up and going out" clothes in a long time.  Also, Picchi Pacchi had a nice crowd on this lovely Saturday night.

Not sure what the article says, but they indicated on social media that they had repair issues after the winter storm last year that hurt them and mentioned the lack of lake traffic in the off season as being a problem.  They're expanding their presence inside Globe Life Field this season.

Owner cited initial sales surge followed by a "drastic drop."  Probably that $30/pound brisket.  A family of four I'd guess cost $100+ to feed at a place like that.  Plus it looked like they had a ton of real estate at that location, I'd imagine the overhead costs ate them alive.

Every one of those bbq places of that style has prices like that.  It doesn't seem to be hurting Heim or any of the others and the quality at Hurtado is right up there.

That's generally true everywhere, I'll give you that.  I think I've just personally been turned off of BBQ for a while now, not necessarily the price but I just don't enjoy it as much anymore.  I always thought of BBQ as a quick, simple lunch, like a sandwich and side, but it sort of has become this "thing" now, but I've just been happier eating a little lighter I guess.  There are a few BBQ places that do a really nice full salad with smoked chicken, I just haven't taken the time to go get one in a while.

Kinda weird how W7th is re-redeveloping.  I guess the bar scene demonstrated the real estate value and now more "grown-up" development is taking over.

We went here months back for just food and drinks. Haven't had an opportunity to play yet. Sitting at the bar was great, I couldn't say I thought about any noise from the pickleball court.

I used to frequent little Woodrows in Houston, but due to location here I dont think I will be. I wish they would open one up in a non-college aged area because the patio at most of their locations tends to be nice.

Smokestack 1948 (off 8th and Cantey) has been closed since at least the new year. They will relaunch in March with a new name, menu, drinks, and and stage according to Paper City. https://www.papercit...m-fw-empanadas/. Hope they do well, it's a unique, fresh space.

That's interesting news.  I recall a few years ago complaining about the smokestack brand, it just didn't seem appetizing.

Well I hope you like the Rusty Nickel :) not sure it’s more appealing. But I agree smokestack sounds like a BBQ place. Doesn’t capture the laid back / backyard atmosphere of the property.

I'm assuming it had to do with the lease rates from the previous ownership.  I can't believe that it has been 4 years since it closed.  Where has the time gone.

"the long 2020" sucked up the time... It seems basically Feb 2020-late 2021 all seemed like one period... then 2022 was a year of catching up on time missed

I’m not sure I mentioned this before, but when Brix finally moves from their airstream off South Main to their Brick and Mortar location, the food truck Oh Balls! Will replace them. I spoke to the owner of Oh Balls! a few months back about it. They serve meatballs from a converted school bus. Will certainly be eye catching.

Just saw that Beast and Co closed. Very sad news. I went twice, I think it was the best restaurant in Fort Worth. Very imaginative and unique food.

I went as recently as this last week and thought the menu was more approachable than when they first opened. The owner posted a heartfelt plea last month, but apparently sales still dwindled. There’s a public Facebook post where he brings up interesting points about the lack of inclusivity to Fort Worth outsiders. He lauded his team’s social media efforts, but I would disagree with him here.

I hope he doesn’t lose his passion. The food and atmosphere were great. I really think Camp Bowie/Monticello would be a better spot. The demographics of Magnolia are an uphill battle for this type of concept.

Asian restaurant Eazy Monkey is replacing Fixture on Magnolia, https://fortworth.cu...g-andrew-dilda/

"Asian-inspired flavors with Texas roots" with dishes like crab rangoon nachos, brisket bao buns, cheeseburger fried rice, and Dan Dan sloppy joes.

Yeah.  That is sad.  I think it was a bit too obscure in my opinion.  It was hard to tell that it was a restaurant and that is something that I don't think a lot of restauranteurs get.  You have to make yourself visible to the average Joe.  Foodies may have known about it but if you're not one you may not have taken notice and possibly just drove by without ever taking notice.  When that is the case and you name your restaurant an unappealing name with higher prices than you are setting yourself up for a challenge imo.

I never had the opportunity to try Beast & Co.  For those of you who did, I'm curious, was the owner present onsite during your visit and was he interacting with each of the guests?

I sort of thought their menu would have a more extensive steak and meat offerings.
