With vision, the City of Fort Worth could capitalize from the Hurricane Katrina tragedy by marketing a community revitalization project that is already in place on the city’s near southeast side. Fort Worth should welcome and encourage displaced New Orleaneans to relocate and establish a New Orleanesque community replete with cafes, music and culture to the Evans and Rosedale Enterprise Zone.

I believe that the establishment of Fort Worth’s “Little New Orleans” would be a tremendous asset to Fort Worth. As I see it now, the Evans and Rosedale Enterprise Zone is languishing and this could certainly become a catalyst for creating something dynamic for a depressed sector of the city.

That's a fabulous idea. But that area isn't just languishing, it's festering.

p.s. Don't know why that first paragraph is blocked by pictures.

This looks like an excellent addition to the revitalization efforts in the historic Near Southside:

As the article states Christo Rey is a nationwide project that originated, serves students of all denominations, and stresses college readiness over the standardized testing that drives most public schools. Work-study internships are an integral part of the program and the school is looking for local businesses to partner with.

The amphitheater idea looks pretty cool.

All have great strengths and few (IMO) weaknesses...

There was a big presentation last night. It includes many nice renderings and descriptions of whats proposed here. I have not had time to watch it all but you can see below.

I like the live/work unit concept. I guess you could potentially write-off part of your rent?

This seems like pretty good bang for the buck.

Lots of construction on a $70M budget
