My understanding is that it was at one time a brothel. That is all I know and it may not even be true.

I don't know much about the building, but for a long time, it was Terry's Grill. It was one of those places where you could get a good home cooked meal in downtown. According to the Tarrant County Historic Resources Survey, it was originally built for Henry Hammann's Meat Market. Over the years, it was a bakery, grocery, and a dry goods store.

My mistake. I didn't notice the arrow pointing to Texadelphia. I was thinking about the building on the corner.

Terry's was there a very long time. It was good. Hated to see it close for Texadelphia.

This falls inline with the previously announced closing of the Houston Street Bar & Patio.

Halbach-Dietz Architects designed the conversion from a restaurant to the Houston Street Bar & Patio back in 2006.

The pizzeria aspect sounds interesting.

Hope they do well and the rent out the rooftop to the convention center crowd. The vibe certainly reminds me of leaving a conference in Toronto and going to a business casual, patio bar nearby.

I've never been up there. I seem to remember one of the forum members had a hand in designing the original version?

My firm was the architect on the Houston Street Bar & Patio.  However, it was not one of my projects.

I stopped by to check it out after work yesterday.  The main level is very acoustically live.  There are a series of curved metal details over the bar area.  I was probably biased by the music playing too loud, and too much of a club vibe for so early in the evening.  The colored bar bottle lighting distorted what they contained and made it difficult to survey the options.  Not very comfortable, but we did wander around and check out the roof, which was open, but not yet staffed.  That was all we could take, and out after one drink and the self-guided tour.  There were maybe 2 or 3 other small groups in at the time.  I took photos of the roof but it doesn't really tell any different story than the ST article.  I'm sure in good weather the roof will be fun, but it is a little claustrophobic for an outdoor space.
