Here's a few pictures of the new 7 Eleven at Henderson and Belnap.
It is replacing the Shell Station/Chinese Restaurant.

Did we really need another 7 Eleven, at least on this side of downtown?

I suppose not, but it's better than the one that was there. It looked a little scary, so I never went.

I went inside a few times to pay for my gas when the swipe machine was not working on the pump. Not only was it scary, it was really dirty. I was surprised that there was a take out counter that could pass inspection in there.
People in Fort Worth must really like sandwiches and Slurpees because there seems to be a lot of Subways and 7 Elevens.

The Planning Department has changed their philosophy a little bit regarding the Downtown Design Review Board. This may be a result of budget cuts, I really don't know, or it could be there were so many cases that related to small insignificant changes in a building or a site, they felt they could be more efficient. Here's the change in philosophy. If a change to a property is within the Downtown Urban Design Guidelines, then they approve the changes administratively. The case does not have to go before the DDRB.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but it appears that the only changes they made were the rebranding from Shell to 7-Eleven. The monument sign was changed out from a cabinet sign to a combination LED and cabinet sign with a brick surround. The Shell colors and logo were replaced with 7-Eleven signs, the building's concrete block was painted, and at least one 7-Eleven sign was placed on the building wall. I know that the replacement of a similar monument sign, replacing the existing signage, rebranding, and painting the building are within the guidelines. It could be that even the new signage on the building fell within the guidelines.
