Just curious if anyone knows anything about this building:

The building sits between a bank and a shopping center near the southeast corner of the intersection of White Settlement Road and Loop 820 on the west side of town.
Construction began well over a year(?) ago, and progressed only through the steel superstructure. The project was shut down for some reason, and the structure has been sitting there for maybe a year or so.
I drive by the site on a fairly regular basis, and have become so accustomed to seeing it, that I hardly notice it anymore. Just wondering what & who the building was being built for and the story behind the shut-down.

If memory serves me right I would say that the building has been sitting unfinished for atleast the last 3 years.

I am sure it is probably meant to be an office building but I have no idea for who or what purpose.

My only guess is that there wasn't enough funding to finish the project so construction was halted. I wonder how long a structure like that can be left unfinished before the city steps in. At this rate it seems like it will never be finished.

Who knows, maybe 10 years from now it will still be sitting there fenced off.

Definite eyesore.

This building belongs to PDX, which stands for Pharmacy Devlopment in Unix. Its a pharmacy software company. Its the largest pharmacy software vendor in the world. They started out in Granbury in the early 80's but moved to Fort Worth in the early 90's when they sold Wal-Mart and K-Mart their software to run in every one of their stores worldwide. They are located in the 4 story Wells Fargo bank building right next to the unfinished building. There are close to 250 employees in the 4 story building so they were busting at the seams. His plans were to build a twin tower for his growing company before the stock market crashed and changed his plans. He still plans to finish the building within this year is what i have heard last.

That's interesting information, thanks benbrook.

I wonder how much additional money it will cost the owner to complete this project. In addition to the cost of inflation, the last couple of years have seen substantial increases in several construction material costs.

If this project was really started about 3 years ago, would the design have to be updated for building code revisions? The 2003 update of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) alone could cause a major increase in construction costs for increased insulation, glazing materials, occupancy sensors, etc.

What is the history of the long unfinshed 4 story building located in White Settlement area off East side of West Loop 820 S. and fronted on Dale Lane. The structural steel is in place and appears has a metal flat roof. I remember seeing it many years ago and inquiring of my friends they also draw a blank. Looks like a good area with commercial buildings on each side. Thanks.

Never been to WS until I went to look at cars at the Ford dealership across the street a few weeks ago. I had wondered the same. No way is it something residential, though.

On Google maps.

I've been to that Ford dealership and several others in search of the new Fusion - no luck to date! Oh, and I didn't notice the long building so have nothing useful to add to the thread :)

It's been that way probably 10 years or more. Reminds me of the parking garage along the Trinity between University and I-30, although that's finally getting fitted out.

Here's another thread on the mystery building — even seven or eight years ago, it had been long abandoned.

Is it possible that the structure was also started in the '90's? At one time when I was living out of state, I would visit and seems to me that that structure has been there many years. Thanks for the feedback.

I looked at historicaerials.com, and the shell was erected between 2001 and 2004.

I used to live off White Settlement Rd. growing up. This building structure was erected in the early 90's.. approx. 1990-1991 as far as i can remember. I remember watching it go up since i was always interested in construction, and always wondered why it stoppped.

You sure? Google Earths old imagery has it popping up between 2002-03. The one at the end of Oels street.

The last couple of times that I've drive down 820 on the West side, I've noted that this building is now under renewed construction.  Someone is there and adding to the building.  Not sure who owns it or what it will be.  Maybe someone here knows.

I drove past this building today.  Looks like it's going to be a self storage type of place.

The building is really starting to shape up.  For a storage building, it's actually not that bad looking.  I'm also taking into consideration the steel frame that sat there for years, unfinished.
