I'm struck by how many higher education institutions are located in some way in Fort Worth.  Aside from TCU and Tarrant County college campuses, there's Texas Wesleyan, Texas A&M, UNT, UT-Arlington, Baylor (All Saints), and Tarleton.  Leave anyone out?

Don't quote me, but I seem to recall Southwestern Adventist University in Keene having a nursing program tied into Huguley Hospital (formerly part of Adventist Health System now Texas Health Resources) but could be overgeneralizing the connection there.  Here's some more info:

I tend to agree with your earlier statement and places like UTSW are certainly full on teaching / research / academic health science center, which I think is what you were saying?

Basically.  I would think of a teaching hospital as one with a direct med school affiliation.

I think we have to paint a broader brush in identifying higher education institutions.  The integral affiliation of Baylor Scott with TCU and UNTHSC is a good example.  And it seems the major universities are locating annexes beyond their major campuses to a greater extent these days.

 

I wish the University of Texas at Arlington annex in Fort Worth would be as vigorous in local expansion as has been UT-Dallas in Richardson (one of my alma maters!).  I applaud Texas A&M for its desire to expand its Fort Worth campus.
