Looks like it'll be taking over the building that used to house Caffe Di Angeli, a coffee shop which never seemed to get a lot of attention.

Love this idea. Hope this location works out. I really think ice cream would do better somewhere along Magnolia.

I like the idea, but it will not last a year.

The facelift on Magnolia is nearly complete, and it will have more local traffic than Stir Crazy Baked Goods. They've done quite well just off Main Street on the Southside. I think the ice cream shop will get hospital business as well as Fairmount/Southside resident business.

I love the concept and will give it a try. The only thing is that location. Sure it's cheaper rent than Magnolia but you get what you pay for. I would rather park once, eat, then go get ice cream. How safe at night is it over there walking from Magnolia? I've gotten approached a couple time on Magnolia just walking 40-feet from the car to Yucatan.

I wouldn't say that it is any less safe than any other part of that area. I've walked around on Magnolia and I haven't had any problems of being approached by panhandlers. I've walked down there and also ridden my bicycle from home and I have felt safe. It's a short walk or ride for me.

It's a very short walk from Magnolia Green, where the Friday on the Green stuff happens. I think this is a very, very significant expansion of the Magnolia/Fairmount urban village to the north. I would say this is the first business that will take advantage of the new bike lanes. This kind of business is exactly why the city wanted these bike lanes.

1201 W. Magnolia is the address of Cartan's Shoes. Is Cartan's moving or will they share the building.
One of the articles I read talked about the Kent & Co. people buying several properties along Magnolia and said the Cartan's Shoes would expand and another business would move in. This makes sense but it made it sound like the building would need to be modified. Is there room on the first floor that's not currently being used for retail? If not I can't see how they could expand.
Lot's of stuff going on on Magnolia these days.

It doesn't look like there's room to expand, or there's space for another ground floor tenant. I guess we will have to wait to see how this work is done.

The placement of this For Lease sign right by the door to Melt is a bit odd. My first impression was, "oh, they're leaving already?" but I believe it is for an office space upstairs.
First time visiting Melt. Sort of wish the product wasn't hidden / covered up down in the freezer case. Selection seemed sort of limited too. One place I don't mind going out of my way once in a while to spend $5-6 bucks at is Andy's Frozen Custard...their hot fudge over vanilla with roasted pecans is glorious. Curly's isn't bad either from what I remember.

We regularly visit Melt. They don't have 23 flavors but they have a pretty good variety. They have their "always" flavors and then they rotate other flavors that they create.
I liked Gypsy Scoops when they were on Race Street. They opened a second location on S. Main, rebranded to Morgan's, closed the original location, and in my opinion just aren't as good as they used to be. We don't go there at all anymore.

There's an Andy's a mile from my house. I probably could have paid one of our vehicles off with what I've spent there.
There's a small ice cream shop in Hurst that opened during Covid that I always forget about. It's way cheaper than Andy's.

I was at Melt on Saturday. I had a shake instead of ice cream.
