Did anyone have a chance to catch the interview on KERA's Think with Monica L. Smith, author of the new book Cities: The First 6000 Years? If so, what did you think?

My background is in anthropology and archaeology, and ancient ways of urban planning has been a passion of mine since grad school. Smith offers up a great survey in the interview of the history of urban development. I think she extrapolates a little too much from too little evidence, but since this isn't a strictly academic or theoretical treatise I think it's mostly appropriate.

I'll be picking up a copy as soon as I've cleared my current backlog of books, but I'm looking forward to seeing what she says.

I caught bits and pieces at lunchtime when I went to vote and again on the rebroadcast when I was working late. Very enjoyable.
