I'm glad they decided to use grey and brown as their color scheme. That will truly set it apart from everything else being built.

At tonights Near Southside Shindig there was a video looping in the lobby area showing renderings of this. It looks great! It's been toned down a lot from the renderings posted earlier in this thread. It will be called the Nobleman Hotel.
This seems like a pretty expensive project at $227/SQFT.

Yes I saw that the property was fenced in this morning as well as part of the lot East of the Fire Station. Looks like work will begin soon.
There is going to be a lot going on in that area... especially with 3 other projects within a block of this project all currently in the early phases of construction.

I will agree that the area is becoming more dynamic.

This hotel opens up a side of Fort Worth many aren’t familiar with, the ‘staycation’ crew from the Metroplex and those from way out of town. Both groups will experience a dense, walkable, trendy, and rich culinary environment. You can fly in, TexRail to T&P, then use ZIPZONE to explore Near Southside the whole stay.

The area needs to find solution on parking
What's the problem?

Collections of small pay lots each with signs indicating which establishment its for. Street parking is limited.
Normally, I am all for mixed use and density but eating there last night it occurred to me for this area to grow it needs central parking solution plus a transit solution.

When the Trinity Metro lots on Vickery are developed that could help with central parking, while not lobbing parking in the densest parts. I dont agree the area needs parking to grow, but as more surface lots are developed there will be a market for paid parking. For transit, theres TexRail/TRE on Vickery, ZIPZONE from many neighborhoods for direct access, and a bus route on S Main. I often take ZIPZONE to the area when I know Ill be drinking.Collections of small pay lots each with signs indicating which establishment its for. Street parking is limited.

Ive never had an issue parking, but I can understand people unfamiliar with the area (and the rarity of denser places in Texas) may not consider or be uncomfortable parking a few blocks away. Id take a garage on the fringes if they banned street parking on narrow roads like Bryan and E Daggett.

You're not seriously suggesting surface lots . . .

It sounds to me like he is suggesting a public parking garage rather than surface parking lots. I would urgently resist adding new surface lots in the south Main area, beyond the code-mandated parking minimums for new developments (and hopefully these minimums can be reduced further or eliminated), but a dedicated public garage wouldn't be the end of the world for walkable density. Building a big garage on Tucker anywhere in the five blocks between Galveston and Calhoun would probably settle neighborhood parking issues for good.
As for transit, it looks like the 5 serves Main with 30 minute headways—15 or 20 minute headways would be better during peak hours!

Drove by the site this morning and they had the construction fencing propped open exposing the huge hole that has been dug out around the building. I'm assuming this will either be parking or maybe receiving or guest amenities. I was just really surprised by the size of the dig.

Maybe for the 586 SQFT pool? Which side of the bldg was the hole being dug?

Thats one impressive excavation.
I’d say my photos don’t do it justice. It’s basically the fully block.
This may be the first underground garage in Near Southside. I can’t really think of underground parking in downtown either. The Bowie on the west side has underground parking too.

Thats one impressive excavation.
When I was traveling frequently to Washington, DC (actually Crystal City), it seemed there were always one or two excavations like that in work, especially in the area between Crystal City and Pentagon City. I remember thinking it would be cool to see that kind of (and level of) development in Fort Worth.
And here we are.

I stayed in that area on a trip to DC and thought the same thing myself.
