First Friday on the Green is a series of free live music events put on by Fort Worth South, Inc. in the Near Southside. After a successful run in 2008, the series is making its return for 2009 this Friday, March 6th. Come to Magnolia Green Park (on Lipscomb between Magnolia and Rosedale, across the street from the Village Homes rowhouses between the Wells Fargo Building and the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders) at 6:00 PM, bring your blankets and chairs, and enjoy a night of free, cool music. Chadra Mezza & Grill will be there selling their tasty fare for the hungry, and beer will be available as well.

This Friday, the musical act is one we're very excited to have, a band that is extremely cool and unique and that doesn't get a lot of chances to play in Fort Worth - Austin's own White Ghost Shivers, a crazy-cool retro cabaret/jazz/vaudeville/hokum/western swing/hillbilly/jugband/ragtime fusion band.

The event starts at 6:00. Admission is free, but you can bring a canned food item for the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Hope some of you can make it!

Well, looks like another concert in the park is coming up this Friday. The last one was pretty cool.

I noticed it seemed to be BYOB last time, but the ad for this one says "no outside coolers or containers". Bummer.

Sounds like fun.

These events are a ton of fun. Went last year for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the local talent we have.

I have always enjoyed attending, and I'm sure I will make some of the dates this year.

Perhaps I will attend these if I'm not too tired after work on these days. I attended a few prior to the pandemic.

I'm on my way and may spend a couple hours there. I should arrive around 6:15 or 6:30.

Anyone else here attending?
