This church could be torn down. Demolition permits have already been filed. Here's a WFAA video covering the news.

I saw the story on TV and read it in the Star-Telegram.  To the best of my memory, I think all of their buildings are new, and not historic.  If you look at the video, you can see the two structures are actually metal buildings.

I assumed that the building wasn't historic since I haven't seen a single article that identified it as historic.

The thread should be moved because it was placed under the heading, "Historic Buildings and Preservation".

The building gets a 4 month reprieve while the issues are sorted out:

I noticed today when I drove by that the fence around the building is down and the front entry looks cleaned up. Anyone heard what has changed? It has sat dormant for nearly 2 years.

Yes, it's gotten a reprieve.  From a Sept. 23 FB post from Representative Ramon Romero, Jr.:

This past Saturday, San Mateo Catholic Church opened it's doors for the first time in almost 3 years. While the church will now open for special religious holidays only, community members of HD90 gathered to worship and celebrate their long fought battle to keep the church in operation.
