"Upper Westside" and "Left Bank"... one is in Manhattan and the other is in Paris, but ask people in Fort Worth who don't know that and they'll tell you they're neighborhoods in downtown (even though one of them isn't actually in downtown), so I thought I'd bring up a poll or two for this.

I have not liked either name.  I especially have not liked "Left Bank".  To me there is only one.

You all may not like my write-in vote for the "Upper West Side", but since the entire neighborhood has been destroyed, I wouldn't be opposed to reverting back to the historic name, "Quality Hill".

Just now learning that.

I like the name "Near Westside" better not only for the Upper Westside, but everything in downtown west of Henderson Street, north of I-30, and southeast of the Clear Fork Trinity River.

I started reading this thread top to bottom and my first thought was "Near Westside" and then saw NThomas' comment.

Instead of LeftBank I'd toss in the hat "Trinity View West" unless that's been taken somewhere else.

I'm confused about how people are unhappy with "Upper West Side" (and "Uptown") because it originated in New York City, yet nobody bats an eye at "Downtown," which also originated in New York City.

Because EVERY city and town has "downtown" as the name for their central business district, to a point where it's just the general accepted term for it.

Canada and a few other countries do that as well. And I guess it works for Uptown and Midtown, but that's it.

You're not wrong that the names are imperfect. I voted to leave them b/c i think there is a cost to switch and has to be a logical, strong improvement to make it worth the re-brand effort.

Left Bank im pretty sure is the name of a project (development) not a district/neighborhood.  Sometimes that becomes confusing to people when a multi-block project spends lots of money to brand its project name, and the blocks around it don't have a clear established district/NH name.  Examples: the W7th (now Crockett Row) and the Foundry District.

How do you refer to the location of a building next door to the Foundry District project, but not within the project?

Maybe they intended for it to apply to blocks around it.  Not sure.

It's all screwed up.

This town has a history of not thinking outside the box...
