I think this is one of Sasha's projects, as she took the video in that IG account. My wife and I were there and appear very, very briefly (thank goodness!). "Security" type guys were there, and Nacho, of course, and Ed Bass even showed up after a while.
This is also the home of Indulge Cooking Studio and Tea Room. Sunday afternoon tea service for $65/person.

I noticed the gentleman baking was using a Miwe Condo deck oven out in the middle of the room. I wonder how much use of that before an exhaust hood would be needed or if it isnt noticeable as far as excess heat and smell like it something got burnt?

Tons of great new restaurant details. The big takeaway: The Stockyards is getting a restaurant with a Michelin rated chef.

I never had a chance to try Fixture but from the reviews and photos, the food looks really good. I think a lot of places that use higher quality ingredients are facing similar challenges not to mention higher labor costs to keep and retain top talent.

I had lunch at the new Jon's Grille on Berry recently. It was very good. I had the small cheeseburger (I think it's called the 817 Burger) - well seasoned meat, fresh ingredients, and fries that were fresh and not frozen. My only minor complaint was that the house made mustard on the burger was a little on the spicy side. Good flavor, but not exactly what I was expecting. It was not incredibly busy at 1:00 or so, but it wasn't dead either. The atmosphere is nice with a wide open dining room and tvs everywhere. Might be a good place to stop in and watch a World Cup game during lunch over the next several weeks.

Edit: I just looked at Jons Menu online and $17 for an 817 Classic basic single patty burger and fries plus drink? I bet two people could easily ring up a $50 tab here with tip and tax. Whats the parking situation that close to TCU?

I think it was 1/3 pound versus 1/2 pound. It was more than enough for me. I drank water and it was $20 with a tip (I tipped generously since I was one of only 2 people sitting at the bar). That's about the going rate for a decent sit down meal these days. I would have spent the same or more at Tommy's or Enchiladas Ole.

While in San Antonio, we got in late but still had time to hit Chuys since it was close to the resort. 4 adults, 1 kid plus queso and they had 3 margaritas, I only spent $104 plus tip. Food was hot and fast nothing spectacular but I was surprised they kept their prices reasonable avg $10-12 a plate. I honestly thought it was going to be double that and would have if we did fajitas. I think they curtailed the menu starting during the pandemic from what I heard but seemed good to me.

The psychology of inflation is an interesting topic and the hamburger lunch is a great example. About 15-20 years ago, a basic quick workday lunch was about $5-6 depending on if you got a sandwich, burger, fast food, dollar menu, subway $5 footlong etc. I remember a buddy of mine went to Al’s Hamburgers in Arlington one day about 12-15 years ago and they came back from lunch and were like, “man, they raised their prices, we paid $11 for a burger and fries!....what’s this world coming to?” I would even chuckle when going to a fairly nice sit down restaurant and seeing a $14 Hamburger on the menu, you know places like a steakhouse or nicer place that also had a burger on the menu but you typically pass it over because you're there for a steak or dinner. We would say to ourselves “that must be some hamburger?” Now, it doesn’t matter the place, we just hand over our money regardless of the cost and the attitude is “I guess it is what it is, everything is expensive.”
There’s a BBQ place in Fredericksburg I went to a few days ago and I guess the young guy cutting the brisket liked us or the boss might have been off that day because we ordered sliced (lean) sandwiches and the first one was generous to say the least with several big slices of brisket at least 1/2 pound and then I came back and ordered one for myself after chatting it up with the crew a bit and I swear he sliced about a pound and quarter of meat for me and only charged me with drink and sides was $18. He wasn’t really paying attention and some people asked him a question but there was so much brisket in the slice that he just shrugged his shoulders and piled it up on my tray and I shared it with the rest of our table. I’ve paid almost $40 for that much meat at other places. I guess it’s just luck of the draw that day but those guys were really cool. Most BBQ restaurant owners that I've met usually only let certain people slice and its usually themselves or their most senior worker. Sort of like a bartender overpouring mixed drinks, you can lose money real fast with someone like that behind the counter.

For years, I could get out of Kincaid's for well under $10. We had it last Saturday and it was $46 for 3 adults and a kid and that was with 2 of us not getting drinks.
Between having a friend in the BBQ business and following Travis Heim on social media, I've heard a lot about the inflation pinch they're feeling right now.
It's funny you mention Chuy's. My wife and I ate at the one in Southlake a few weeks ago and I specifically mentioned that I thought that getting out of there for less than $40 with a tip seemed very reasonable. That's a sharp contrast to a meal last weekend at Thirsty Lion where the bill ran $60 for 2 adults and no alcohol. Eating out has just gotten expensive.

I pretty much go out to a restaurant now expecting to pay $25 at a minimum. When I travel to other well known cities (like Austin, SF, NYC, DC), I up that to $35

Was the cheeseburger small by design compared to larger options or are their portions generally small? Kincaids Original 1/2 lb is almost too much food but I still finish it.

I thought we did mention the restaurant somewhere here on the forum. It makes sense that the restaurant is going in the basement. The old bank vault from the National Bank of Commerce and later Continental National Bank is still in the basement, and that would make a great unique dining space within the restaurant. XTO had used the basement for meeting rooms and conference areas. Again, these spaces were perfect for restaurant conversion.

Yes. Another fan of Pacific Table here.
Last time we went there they were packed and we had no reservation. They asked if we wanted to sit at the bar and we said yes and it actually worked out pretty well; we chatted with the two other couples on either side of us and had a very pleasant meal.

I was told by a very reliable source that this is the same owner as Pinkys and Dirty Laundry. I want to say its the Cockes (John and wife) but dont quote me on that. I checked TABC licenses but didnt see anything listed yet for this address.Tattoo Ranch to become Boatman's Chum & Chug
What is Chum? Do they serve Chum? From a bucket?
I see their permit was issued to a Mr. Plankton with an address in Bikini Bottom
I gotta say, my stomach turns when I read the words Chum and Chug in the same sentence. Sounds like a frat house hazing party at the fishing docks.
