Austin, this piece of property is an old warehouse that the district converted into warehouse and office space.  One big change they made to the building is that they located the FWISD Board Room inside.  There are several other meeting rooms within the building, as well.

Really beginning to see the Panther used more than the cow around these parts...

I'm not crazy about this one.  Panther City encompasses all of Ft Worth.  Panther Island refers to a specific area, but I don't Panther City should.  But whatevs.

Bumping this topic with the news that Autobahn is looking to leave.

Here's a view of the flood map for the area. I'm not knowledgeable at all of the rules for building in and around flood plains, but whatever they are they would need to apply for almost the entiritey of this area.

would these flood areas be updated after the diversion channel is built/dug?

Most of the zoning north of White Settlement on the flood map is light industrial? Wonder if they can keep it that way, and how productive the businesses there are. Seems like a good source of jobs.

I was thinking the same thing but couldn't put it correct terms last night.  Otherwise, what's the point of the Central City Project if they're not mitigating flooding?

central city project does address flooding in places - just not this neighborhood (north of WSR).

it takes all that land in Panther Island out of flood plane making it developable.

I'm not sure if it's true but I've heard that the issue with this area is not that the river floods into it but rather the opposite, the levees don't allow stormwater to properly drain into the Trinity.

Might be time for another FW Forum brainstorming session to come up with better names for goofy or otherwise inappropriate developments or districts. I haven't seen this done in a while, but in the past this provided light diversion for listeros and IMO actually came up with superior names... not sure if any were actually implemented though.

So for the "poorly named" Panther City" district, I will throw out...

Panther Paw Wash District (floods, get it?)

Confluence District (HEY! No Confluence Brewery... Des Moines already has that...)

Two Forks District

Roundabouts District

The Other Cullen District

Below the Fort District

Lower Linwood District

Jacksboro-Henderson District

Panther Peninsula

Roosevelt District (rename White Settlement Road to Roosevelt Drive, see other threads in FWF for FDRs history with Fort Worth; need a statue...)

Trinity Trails Disrtict

Levee District

OK, carry on...

Ones in the red... I actually agree with.

Not on list, but how about "North Trinity District?"

Just not a fan of the Trinity moniker.  It's already used too much.

Is it?  I'm trying to think of districts that use it and can't think of any that are official.  Maybe you can help fill me in on them.

Oh I'm thinking of more than just districts.  More like businesses and the river itself.

Regarding choosing a different name for the district between WSR, University and the river (I agree),  I think the bridge name that won the sweepstakes is Bridgey McBridgeface (sp).
