Just looking for suggestions

We received Fort Worth Star telegram renewal paper bill.

New annual rates $779.36 were almost double last years rates.

On 4 Oct 2022 sent to FWST PO Box 3035 Livonia MI 48151 our request to CANCEL our account
Per their requirements contract termination date would be 11 October 2022.

On 17 October 22 tried calling their Customer Service 800.776.78.7827 and 800.843.4375 to confirm cancellation.  Both numbers automatically 'hung up'.  Sent email to their Customer service and to date they have not replied.

Email requested they STOP home delivery immediately.

Today is 21 Oct 2022.  Delivery continues.

FWST is not talking between billing and delivery folks

Not sure what is going on... but we are not paying for delivery service after 11 Oct 2022.

Just reaching out to learn if any forum members with FWST subscription are having similar issues.

The good news is you are not getting charged for delivery? I find that with some publications they continue delivery even after letting the subscription lapse. Im not sure why if it is possibly a good faith effort hoping youll re-up the subscription eventually. I subscribe to the ENR magazine and they send me double copies, sometimes triple copies and the last renewal I opted out for print delivery. Makes me wonder if the print house gets paid by the unit and the burden is on the publisher to refresh their subscriber list?

Way back more than a decade ago when I cancelled my subscription, I continued to receive papers for probably 3 years after I stopped paying.

Wow but fair is fair contractually.  If I cancel subscription...... why FWST does not stop delivery ?

While it has not yet come to this yet I should not be financially responsible for expenses after written cancellation notification date.

Hope some forum member from FWST might provide some feed back.  Yes we know y'all are out there and might help.

I think you've zeroed in on the problem here.

Years ago I canceled my subscription to the print edition but continued to receive it. When I eventually got billed, I protested and the FWST customer service said it was the delivery person's fault that papers kept arriving at my home.

Apparently as an independent contractor, the delivery person purchases the papers and then the FWST passes along the subscriber's payment. So, they said, while I was free to ignore the bill, the cost of the delivered papers would come out of the delivery person's pocket.

Ok..  I got the picture... thank you.  I put them on notice in writing.  I'll just let the boat float.  Sooner or later both FWST and the Delivery person will wake up and realize the boat really did sink.

I should clarify that I didn't continue to receive a daily paper for the full 3 years after I cancelled.  It eventually slowed down to Friday through Sunday, then just weekends, and eventually Sundays only for several months before it stopped completely.  I would occasionally get a call from a customer service rep trying to lure me back and I would let them know that I had cancelled and was continuing to receive papers.  The papers were going in the recycle bin without being read nearly every day because I could just read the stories online at work (between the crappy S-T website and other apps, finding the entire paper for free online was fairly easy).  I'll usually buy a paper on Thanksgiving Day for the ads, but even last year, I barely looked at them.

Thanks for clarifying that.  Was up at Krogers this morning.  FWST was not on the newspaper rack.  Saw only DMN and one other paper.  Maybe I should donate our outdated FWST (still in the yellow plastic baggy).  LOLLLLLL.

Well,  I must thank y'all for your help.  FWST delivery apparently stopped yesterday Sunday.

the good news is you sent the emails and if needed have something with a time and date to refer to.

keep an eye on your credit card or however you had payment previously made to ensure renewal isn't deducted/charged. If it is, immediately call and contest the charge/debit.

Not your problem. Delivery person needs to pay attention.

Interesting, as we have had the opposite problem. We got a good deal on Wednesday & Sunday delivery only, two days a week, but I'd say more than 50% of the time we don't get a paper. My wife has to call in each time to get a credit.  They added an extra delivery charge because of the price of gas! Very frustrating. We will not renew when this subscription finally ends.
