The Fort Worth Police Department will break ground on a new facility tomorrow, Tues., Oct. 11 at 9 a.m. The 31,000-sqft facility at 3501 W. Risinger Rd. will be the new headquarters for FWPD’s South Patrol Division.

Set to be complete in December 2023, the facility will consolidate the current city-owned building and leased building into one spot. With the goal of increasing efficiency and communication, it will serve as a home base for South Division patrol officers, neighborhood police officers, detectives, Code Blue, the bike unit, and administration.

The $20 million project was part of the 2018 Bond Program and is designed by Kennedale-based Callahan & Freeman Architects. The building features a large entry plaza and lobby, community room, roll call room, and office space.

The new HQ will replace the current South Patrol Division Office at 3128 W. Bolt St.

I'm not sure I'm happy about the police department 3 times further from me than it currently is.

On the other hand, it puts it closer to the higher crime areas around McCart and Altamesa.
