This looks to be the same pile of dirt....maybe it has grown a little bit.

permits are in for the office section.
Beck is the GC as mentioned on the application.
Here's the New Building Permit filed 9/14/21 for the Multifamily and Spa portions. Looks like Andres Construction is the GC on this part.

The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Monday.

Why is there so many people walking on the streets in the rendering. Are they predicting the zombie apocalypse upon completion? LOL

Ummm.
**Its time. Fort Worth is ready for a first-class hotel. I think its been needed for some time, Goff said.**
He should have said "5 star" instead of "first-class" but that's what he meant. Fort Worth has a number of very nice first-class hotels. It has no 5 star hotels and this will be the first.

I got a chuckle out of that when I saw it. One could misinterpret that comment as being all other Fort Worth hotel installations are not first-class. Maybe they aren't. However, you're comment is likely the more accurate interpretation of that statement. Now the pressure is on to deliver a world-class hotel to our city. I'm excited to see what we get.
Question: what would be considered Fort Worth's current top-tier hotel?

Question: what would be considered Fort Worth's current top-tier hotel?
I don't really think there is one. Certainly there are several nice hotels (all four star) like the Ashton, Drover, Omni, Sinclair, Kimpton, etc. But I think those are generally on the same level.
To be (un)fair, I haven't really stayed at most of the Fort Worth hotels given that I live here. But I have been fortunate enough to stay at a number of very nice hotels in major cities around the world due to business travel. While the difference between a hotel like the Omni Fort Worth and the Ritz Carlton in Dallas can be subtle, it's there. In a five star property the concierge can get you a reservation to any restaurant in town, the hotel restaurants are generally chef-driven and genuinely good, the gym/spa is really high quality, and the room itself has the extra bells and whistles (fully stocked marble bathrooms generally including all the toiletries, usually separate tub and shower, super nice linens and mattresses, etc.
I once was on a business trip and somehow forgot my toiletries bag. I called the concierge when I was out at a meeting, and when I got back to the room they already had a whole group of items laid out by the bathroom sink (brand new stuff in packages: razor, shaving cream, toothbrush/paste, etc.). That's the service difference.
Posted 20 September 2021 - 11:22 AM
Those are good points. The past couple of times I have walked or driven past the Omni, there were hoards of gymnastics teams and convention type attendees spilling out of the lobby onto the sidewalk and buses idling out front. As a convention center hotel, you sort get elbowed on your way through the crowd to get where you're going especially once that crowd has nowhere else to go but the sidewalk.
When I was involved with the Ritz-Carlton project several years ago, I read through their hotel design and standards guide and one section addressed their policies for Ritz-Carlton employees...what caught my attention was the hotel employees are expected to never turn their back on a guest and also know how to anticipate a guest's needs. That's the "tripping over themselves to serve the guest" type of service one would expect at a first-class hotel as well as the finely-appointed interior finishes and rooms, top-notch dining, large lobby, gathering spaces and the concierge-level amenities you mentioned.

The Omni in Fort Worth is a perfectly acceptable hotel with a lot of flaws - dark/outdated decor that makes the rooms feel dark and small, bathrooms typical of any hotel, public spaces that are compact and crowded constantly, and an entrance that is awful. Your options are squeezing onto a tiny sidewalk crowded with luggage carts and people waiting on the valet or walking between cars.
Posted 20 September 2021 - 12:36 PM
JBB, I have one comment relating to your post above. I have not spent a night in the Omni Hotel, but I did get a chance to tour it before it opened. My comment is this: I always thought the rooms were dark and small. I was actually disappointed in them, coming from a from the ground up building. You are also correct in that the bathrooms are nothing special.
Posted 20 September 2021 - 01:51 PM
I'm hard on the Omni, but I don't know that it's any worse than the Dallas Convention Center Omni or the 2 CC hotels I've stayed in Orlando as far as decor and finish out goes. The Dallas Omni has a leg up when it comes to public spaces, connectivity to the CC, and the entrances (they had more space to work with). Dark decor was a lot more in style when the FW Omni was built. It's past due for a remodel.

As it relates to the office component of this new Crescent development, it's worth noting that the price point in the space is going to be the highest in Fort Worth (I've heard ballpark mid-$40's per foot). It's going to be interesting to see whether they pull any marquee tenants out of downtown, and just generally who ends up filling the space other than the Crescent/Goff entities.

This Museum place with the Van Zandt and the Gingerman developments. I think it will give the whole area a urban canyon feel because they are putting in higher buildings than what was before. That by the way I have no problem with if it is done right. And that is what one should expect in a urban area in a large city ? It's no Time Square by any means. But 7th street as we know it will look and feel very different in a few short years when you put all these projects together. And with the new streetscape along 7th could help ? So I'm cautiously optimistic.

The location on this one is confusing. NW corner of 7th and Van Cliburn doesn't really exist since that's a t-intersection, unless you consider the jog over to Arch Adams. Even then, that's the 7-11 building that is relatively new. Anyone have a better idea than me as to where this is?
Posted 20 November 2021 - 09:24 AM
I'm guessing the location was entered incorrectly. I'm not the first, or the last, who has made a mistake in filling out a form. It will be corrected eventually, but that correction won't show up on the website.

That makes sense. Is this a project that was previously announced? Could it be on the property bordered by Darcy-Boland-7th? That's the only substantial block under the MP umbrella that's not developed or in the process of being developed.

Here's a clearer view of the residential on Block A/The hotel block.
Located just across the street from the world-renowned Kimbell Art Museum and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, the mixed-use Museum Place development will make a splash as Crescent Real Estates first project in Fort Worth. Museum Place will enhance the Fort Worth’s culture district with 125 luxury residential units, a Crescent Hotel, class A office space, and a landscaped courtyard that will host outdoor dining, events, and social activities. The development will incorporate local, commissioned artwork that will be featured throughout the amenity and public spaces.

Looks like there will be a Tower Crane up by the end of the week on the east side of the project.
Is that where they ended up putting it? East side of the office site (Beck) or the east side of the hotel site (Andres)? I was sort of thinking it would be placed centrally like on the west side of the office site, east of Van Cliburn.
I imagine Van Cliburn is going to be closed except to construction traffic for quite a while. This was Sunday afternoon.

The crane looks to be in the area circled. I drove through there last night.
Posted 02 December 2021 - 03:17 PM
That makes the most sense as far as picking loads off trucks from Van Cliburn and swinging it over to the office and hotel sites. With Beck and Andres having two separate jobsites, I would assume Andres will borne part of the cost for the crane & operator. They need to be cautious with swing radius over surrounding businesses and streets which makes this location ideal.

Yeah, the contrast with the slower pace down the road at the Bowie House is pretty stark.
Posted 11 December 2021 - 08:30 AM
Just speculating, but it could be the difference between a project that's been a concept for 15 years versus one that came up in the last 2 years.

And isn't there more utility issues they have to deal with on the Bowie House site?
