Yep, A&M moves fast with development projects. This will be a welcome addition to downtown.

The Amon Carter Foundation has donated nearly an acre of land from the "Jones St Superblock" to A&M. Read more: https://fort-worth.t...-am-fort-worth/

This is all the land now part of the University via TAD.

In retrospect, it would have been interesting if TCC had chosen to build in this location instead of by the river. Then students would have been closer to the transit hub.

Either way I imagine this will increase ridership on commuter rail since students at this campus are probably going to be working adults scattered all over the DFW metro area and won't want to put that many miles on their car for bi-weekly class days, when you can just walk across the street to your destination.

When the TCC river campus was being planned, the effort was being led by a chancellor that was fluffing his own ego and legacy by overtaxing residents and sitting on the money for his Taj Mahal campus.  Student and transit needs were pretty far down on the list of priorities.

It was posted back when the tower crane went up in December.  They've changed the location.

I cant recall if this project is being funded by the huge state ARPA appropriations to the universities for construction, but I suspect so - and if so, they have to move quickly or risk clawback.

Also, based on the rendering, it appears that A&M plans to re-build the Landmark Tower and demolish Frost Tower.

That's a big undertaking for land they don't own. I think it is interesting that they used an old composite photograph for the background of the rendering.  I don't know why they wouldn't have used a new photograph of Downtown.

Another rendering from the website of building 2 (RIB-A). Looks like the north wing that was previously shown has been lopped off, but the space might still be available for a future expansion based on the ghosted outline. The South wing has also had more floors added. These renderings match up with those released with recent news on this building

Looks great regardless of the loss of the northern end.   I wonder what that placeholder for the northern end is supposed to be?  I mean, it is abutted right up to the edge of the building so I'm assuming it has to be a part of the A&M footprint.

It's in the link:

The Research & Innovation Building A is being financed with a combination of tenant leases, donations and parking revenue.

Long-range plans leave space for future expansion for Research & Innovation Building B.

I cant quite tell what university this is.  The signs aTm signs are just too subtle.

So the 2nd building got funding, but the third or northern part of this building did not, so is an independent later phase, right?

I'd prefer to see that part of the street left open - even if they do an easement thing like TCU is doing next to the bookstore - think being able to connect in more places is better, and they could do an uppper floor connection instead - glass bridges over the street.

Excited to learn more.  Its looking good.

Not very good lighting today but I did walk around the building. Columns going up for the 9th floor, which I think is the last, unless it's 10 floors. I'm still not sure

hmm... among other things, with A&M-Fort Worth to house the Texas A&M Transportation Institute maybe the FW-D HSR link just took a tiny baby step closer to actually being more than a pipe dream?

Here's some interesting details from the City's Research and Innovation Local Development Corporation Board of Directors meeting. (BTW - I didn't even know about this group)

You can watch the full presentation here: https://fortworthgov.granicus.com/player/clip/5641?view_id=5&redirect=true

First off was a map of the proposed campus. Two things caught my eye here:

1) the two blocks of City-owned, former I-30 ROW land along Lancaster labeled "PVFA" which is the A&M acronym for the College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts. I had heard that the PVFA would have space in the RIB building, but maybe they’ll get their own building? Cool opportunity to tie into the IM Terrel Academy in Butler

2) This is probably nothing, but the T&P Warehouse having a label on it was interesting…

ROWkIhU.jpg

Here’s a closer site plan, nothing too exciting.

5LUs3DB.jpg

A decent chunk of the Phase II building, (Research and Innovation Building, AKA RIB-A) will be leasable office space that will share the building with the school. As we previously noted, the building will have an expandable section, RIB-B, which will be built in response to demand in the A phase.

When the building tops out, it looks like you will see from the west that it's slightly higher than the Sheraton.
