The area being renovated includes the two spaces on the south end of the building: one was the old convenience store.  It looks like the two spaces were combined and the windows are now covered with paper from the inside.  I walked past last week and a worker said that a coffee shop was going in...not sure if that is a chain, independent or a convenience store-type shop.

I've been watching the transformation of 1410 N. Main Street, next to Byblos.  Below is a picture of the building before renovation.  Into the West Furniture, which recently lost its lease on West 7th, is renovating the space and doing a great job.  They've removed all of the stucco and opened it all up.  If you drive by you won't recognize the building.  I have a newer photo, but haven't put it on my Flickr yet.  I hope that whole row of buildings can be brought back to life soon.

Three trees?  Hmmmm...I've always favored a scorched-earth approach to new construction.

I don't want to stir the pot on this sensitive issue, but I feel compelled, after reading the many posts on this topic, to ask one simple question: wouldn't hipsters more effectively be able to bend their legs while peddling bikes if they just bought bike shorts or yoga pants with a skinny jean print or pattern on them?

I recommend the dispute be settled by a bike race around the world.

I think it is supposed to be General Edward H. Tarrant.  I found something online where Arthur Weinman Architects submitted a conceptual plan for a General Tarrant statue and four other memorials to be placed on the west lawn of the courthouse.
