I know its a different name, but wonder if its the same group, seems like an upgrade in venue if that's the case, or just another group trying a Texas only indoor football league?

I agree with Jeriat, north Texas thing is a slight to Fort Worth.  This whole "NTX" branding thing is not my favorite.

On point with the marketing... if anyone in Fort Worth was to know anything about this you would think someone on the forum would.

 

Looking at the webpage it does seem that they use a lot of regional names for their teams so maybe it's not that big of a sleight.

On point with the marketing... if anyone in Fort Worth was to know anything about this you would think someone on the forum would.

Or could be a reflection of their uncertainty of where they will be playing long term? Then it gives them flexibility to go out to the suburbs.

It upsets me even more knowing they didn't bring the Cavalry name and image back... that's not owned by anybody. The original AFL is gone.

I sort of liked the branding too but wasn't 100% sure if it was referencing the Confederacy's cavalry or not.

I actually went to 5 games in their inaugural and final season... LOL.  It was fun but the arena was only about 1/3 full.  I hated the name of the team

They only lasted a year. Don't know if that was bad ownership or poor advertisement... this current incarnation so far is definitely the latter.

They were 2-0 going into the home opener, but I don't know if they won on Sunday or how many were in attendance.  I did speak with one of the owners on Instagram and after we discussed a few topics and me mentioning that calling the team North Texas instead of Fort Worth will put off a lot of locals as far as building a fanbase and merchandising and he said that he appreciated my input and would take that into serious consideration for next season.

 

Maybe we can get a FW Forum group to attend and show our support to push for the name change?

So... the Arena Football League, who's making a comeback, just announced their starter markets today. This time stating with 16 instead of the typical 8 or 10.

Texas got two teams. Fort Worth was not one of them. It was:

Austin (understandable) and "West Texas"...

Now I'm thinking, surely it's El Paso, right? I'd understand that... but no. They picked ODESSA. That doesn't even sound right.

More likely there as a committed ownership group in Odessa who wanted to pay the entry fee, and no one in Fort Worth had an offering.
