The leaders of the opposition identified in the Fort Worth Report Article are owners of two historic houses on the block bounded by Pennsylvania, 8th Ave., Pruitt St., and 9th Ave. This block is listed as a National Register Historic District.

Whats the advantage to Cook to change from Near Southside zoning to G Commercial?
It would seem that would throw out all of the beneficial form based elements (basically that buildings dont totally turn their backs on streets.

Cook Children's proposal to rezone several of its properties for expansion failed to pass the zoning commission. Still goes before City Council next week. https://fortworthrep...from-neighbors/
The City Council unanimously approved Cook Children's proposal. https://fortworthrep...rs-arent-happy/

Wondering if this is not a redevelopment of the Main Entrance pick-up / drop-off area. The last time I used this area it was a bit of a chokepoint as far as families not really knowing where to park or wait or who should use it vs not use it. I personally felt like maybe there's a more efficient use of space for this courtyard, it is cool with the Christmas lights and all but not very visible as a grand entrance from any vista beyond the immeadiate couple of blocks right up by the hospital. I feel like the design intent was to be this special pick-up / drop-off space but it sort of turned into this airport loading zone feeling to me. (watch, this project has nothing to do with that area)

This could possibly be related to this "east" development too:

related/not-related, as Holiday Season approaches, for those that don't know, Cooks does a REALLY great job of decorating this area of 7th and Cooper with exterior lights and displays.
clearly a fair number of kids unfortunately find themselves at the hospital through these months so it's a great way for them to see more of the seasonal decorations. I'd also encourage those in the forum who've not seen it in the past to make a visit

I always put this on my list of Christmas Light Displays to visit every year.

Now we know what they meant by "East Development" that was kind of confusing for a sec. Here's another screen grab from that video in your link. This is a huge project!

I didn't realize Cook Children's owned this building:

I didn't realize that they owned it either. I imagine that since the Green Oaks Inn was demolished and this building was built, it sold to Cook's.
