Overall, I'm pleased with the design of the building and the location of the gas pumps away from the main intersection. You have to admit that this is a very unique design for a large chain, and it shows that large chains can build to urban design standards. I do realize that a gas station/convenience store is more suburban in nature, but the building is well done. Also, I really like the two story interior. It really opens up the sales floor and makes that rather unique, as well.
I agree. There's a lot of little and not so little details they very easily could have scrapped in the design process but they didn't. Also, the site is very inviting, it makes you feel like you're on the doorstep to downtown, you can look up from the parking lot and see most of downtown especially Burnett Plaza is right there in front of you. I noted several FWPD officers hanging out, it didn't appear they were responding to a call there but just huddling up as a meeting place coming and going. There's a heavily armed security roaming the facility too. We asked the person working the counter if there had been any problems so far and said there hadn't been other than some people stealing stuff but you see that all over the place, not just here. I agree that it is nice the gas pumps are kind of off the the side, I really don't like the vibe at most of these bigger gas stations where you feel like you're going to get run over walking to and from the pumps to the store.
I didn't get a very good drive-by shot, but this stairway up to the roof was a really cool touch. I'm not even sure what's over on this side of the store, maybe some offices but it appears there's some kind of interstitial space between the glass and the interior walls, it certainly has a firehouse feel to it with the brick and red paint accents, high ceilings and archway opening.
