We've been reading articles lately that Fort Worth's population will soon be one million. We've already surpassed Austin in that regard.
With that in mind, I got to thinking of how our downtown compares with other U.S. cities that rank in the top 20 in population. I don't suppose there's a positive correlation between population size and downtown size or density. Nevertheless, one might conjecture that the more people a city has, the greater the market demand for high-rise construction in the downtown area. Or, at least, market forces may bear on greater density of a DT area. I know this comes off as anecdotal theory. But some input from the more knowledgeable here would be appreciated. Put simply, does anyone here think Fort Worth has a smaller downtown for a city of its size?
