The Fort Worth Fat Stock Show hosted an indoor rodeo in the North Side Coliseum from 1918 until 1943 when Globe Aircraft Company occupied all available stock buildings as part of the war effort. The stock show and rodeo were moved to the new Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum in 1944.
The first Fort Worth Fat Stock Show and Rodeo to be held in the new Will Rogers Coliseum began on March 10, 1944, and featured western movie star Gene Autry as a leading event.
Nationally famous radio sportscaster Harry Wismer conducted a live radio show during the event and featured special guest Amon G. Carter who told of the importance of food production for the war effort.
This is a recording of that radio broadcast that was aired by local radio station KGKO and broadcast to all military personnel world-wide.
