Formerly:
Ryan-Edrington House
This home was constructed prior to 1910, but its exact date is not known. It was originally clad in wood siding. It was the second home acquired by the Woman's Club, and that occurred in late 1924. It sits on a raised basement and the plan is irregular in shape. The roof is hipped and is clad with faux slate shingles. The eaves are supported with bracketed beams. Most of the windows are wood and double hung, and most have wood shutters. The porch extends across the entire front of the house and it is covered with a hipped roof on top of decorative wrought iron supports. The east side of the building, along S. Lake St., has a fire escape with wrought iron railings and supports that match the front porch.
Local developer, John C. Ryan sold the house in 1914 to W.R. Edrington. In 1915, Edrington added yellow brick to the facade. In 1936, the front porch was removed and replaced with the porch that is present today. In 1991, an elevator was added to the rear of the building.
