I heard a good segment on 'The Texas Standard' today concerning the development in the Houston area. It seems that some of the residential developments done in nearby reservoir flood pools were developed in part by city officials.

The Houston Chronicle was doing the story:

The quote from Steve Costelo, an engineer, developer, and their current 'Flood Czar' tells me a lot; "I don't look back at why," he said. "I look (at) how we move forward and how we address everything..." It seems that he doesn't remember his engineering firm did some of the flood studies for the developments.

They have many tall two story steel columns up now. You can get a feel of the building massing.

I just noticed this morning that the charred remains of the Rainbow Lounge have been removed and the site cleared. That must have happened within the last week or so.
