Any kind of regional bids will have Fort Worth taking a back seat to Dallas.

I like the "Fort Worth Now" campaign. Hopefully we can meet the long-term goals of the compaign.

I'd like us to make a push to get passenger service at AFW too.

In Topic: Hulen/Bryant Irvin Restaurant Changes

Cotton Patch had to be the most vanilla, non-descript comfort food restaurant ever.  There was absolutely nothing on their menu that stuck out.

I've never been more dissatisfied with a meal than my one visit to Cotton Patch.

The focus is on the overwrought, cartoony, jumbled messes of mishmashed styles and poorly-executed design concepts applied to giant and often cheaply-built faux-"classy" faux-"luxurious" homes that you see reflected in the posts there.

Unfortunately, this is filtering down to the sea of boxy, slanted wood back houses being built in many of Fort Worth's newest neighborhoods.

In Topic: Mosier Valley Park expansion

Here's an interesting look at a unique part of Fort Worth's and Texas's history, as told in a Channel 5 report.  I didn't know Mosier Valley Park was the first site where freed slaves settled in Texas.

It's an under appreciated fact about our history that gets lost.

In Topic: Proposed housing in Randol Mill Road area

I've always wondered why that area wasn't developed.

In terms of housing developments, the area is in the Trinity floodplain.  Plus with regards to families wanting to move into that area, the FWISD schools in east Fort Worth aren't the best.

That said, River Trails is also close to the floodplain (but just outside the flood risk zone), though they get HEBISD schools.

Yes, and there are already some really nice houses around that area now. Doesn't Barry Corbin live around there?

As far as schools, what we found out with Keller and Northwest schools that serve north Fort Worth was that the education was not necessarily better than FWISD.

The perception is that it's better, but we saw the same issues (many times worse) - drugs, gangs, lazy and/or incompetent teachers and administrators, silly policies like allowing kids to make up ALL WORK at the end of each six weeks, etc.

A lot of the kids that live in that part of Fort Worth go to Lamar HS and it's feeder schools in Arlington ISD.
