Here is a thought:  Celebrate Independence Day on the first Friday in July.

Make sense?

Afraid not.  You see, there are certain historical dates that are sacrosanct, meaning they are to be observed on that very day.  The most important date for our country is the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.  I wouldn't change that date for a holiday.

I'm afraid that you have your historical dates wrong.

Any way, by Wednesday, we will all feel some strangeness "winding down and gearing up" as a normal week is split.
