Was having this discussion today... Seems like a lot of tower cranes are up right now. I wonder if there was a certain period where there was more than ever? I remember when Sundance was going up there were 3 in downtown (Cityplace, Westbrook and Commerce buildings) but don't remember how manyt the rest of the city had.

Currently (last updated 5/14/16)

Clearfork - 6

TCU Worh Hills - 2

NWRMC Garage - 2

Trinity Tower - 1

XTO Garage - 1

400 S. Jennings - 1

Hampton-1

Frost - 1

Total - 15

I know for sure Frost Tower has one on the way, and the Hampton downtown will aswell. Not sure if there's any more planned. And there may be some elsewhere (Alliance perhaps?) but I've not noticed.

I just drove by the Hampton Inn construction site this morning and there's a medium-size crane (don't know what else to call it), not a tower crane.  Not sure they'll get a tower crane to construct what is shown in the posted art sign as a six or seven story building.

I was by the Hampton Inn construction site yesterday, and I thought I saw the base for a tower crane at the site.

Yes, the street is closed off this morning while the crane is being assembled.

Updated to add the Hampton. Frost tower's was scheduled to go in today I thought, I didn't see it this morning (was out around 9) but there were some police that looked like they might be getting ready to direct traffic. I'll be back by later.

I noticed the tall crane driving by the Hampton Inn site late yesterday afternoon.  Any news on when the Frost Tower project is to get a crane?

I had heard that it was coming this weekend.  However, my information may not be accurate.

Anyone living on the West side will have to keep an eye out for a crane at Holy Family Catholic, they are building a garage and may use a tower crane but may just use a mobile crane.

400 S. Jennings has been down for awhile. Unless it's not where I think it is. (Not far south of 30?)

I didn't catch that one.  It has been down for at least three weeks.

Austin, can you our anyone else identify the construction project by crane:  One crane at the construction project just south of I-30 and north of the hospital district; one at that low-rise building under construction near the Summit towers?

The one next to the Summit Towers is the Alexan Summit project, a 5 floor 300+ unit apartment project on the old ACH campus.

The southside one is a new Texas Oncology building.

I'm not sure how many there are, but you could also include the new American Airlines campus which, "technically", is in the city limits.
