Here's a few pictures I had taken of the Tandy Center Subway just before the termination of service. It's amazing how much it's changed around there in less than three years!

Look up in the upper left corner and click on some red dots to see the Tandy Subway in action.. on the very last day of operation (31Aug02).

Howdy,
Some neat shots of the Subway. I hate to admit I had almost forgotten about it. I think it was a shame to get rid of such a neat piece of Fort Worth History. I remember riding in it when it was the Leonard's M&O Subway.
Thanks for sharing the pics.

In September of 2002, I attended the last ride party -- here's some pics :]

The classic subway station shot with all the game show lightbulbs

the very last time the rink was put to use and looked nice

man.. had to do some archive diggin' for those :]
I also have some pics of me poppin' champagne and offering it to riders on the last ride if anyone wants me to scan 'em

Lobster, Those are some great pics from the final subway run. I worked as a M&O Subway operator in 1973 and 74. In fact, that's where I met my wife. We had intended to go down and take one last ride in August of 2002, but something came up and it never happened.

Fort Worth Leonards/Tandy Center Subway
I ran across a New York City subway site that has an incredible number of photos of the Tandy subway cars. Quite a few of the shots are from the '70's back in the Leonards days, so there's lots of history there. Here's the link:

Great old pictures - especially for non-native Texans. You can see in the 1st and 3rd pics on that site shots of the City Center bldgs being constructed in the background skyline...
