New  and larger emergency room facilities and an adjacent helipad are being added to the Medical Plaza Center on 8th Avenue:

The for-profit hospital is looking for state funds in the form of tax refunds from the Texas Enterprise Zone Program.

ya exactly. here are hca's financials for the last couple of years. city council needs to reject this. don't ask for state money for your investors to benefit. put your big boy pants on plaza medical center

The company reported $4.1 billion in cash from operating activities in 2012, a 6.1 percent jump from 2011. HCA’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization -- a measure of cash flow called Ebitda -- rose about 7.7 percent last year to $6.5 billion on an adjusted basis. Adjusted Ebitda for 2013 will be $6.25 billion to $6.5 billion, HCA said.

Revenue for 2013 will rise to a range of $33.5 billion to $34.5 billion, the company said. That would be an increase from $33 billion in 2012 after adjusting for doubtful accounts.

I've heard radio ads from them for their ER skills "casting" broken bones.  They sounded a bit odd to me.

THis never got built did it? It sounds like it may have undergone some design changes and updates. New plans are 4 stories, 90k sqft, and $34 million. And the Helipad would be on the roof.

A Helipad atop a 4-story building?  I haven't seem the location, but guess there would be no obstructions around this building to interfere with take-offs and landings.

Their current helipad is at ground level in the parking lot.
