Mansfield is usually off my radar screen, but it looks like someone may prosper with this planned development (FWBP article below).

I've been considering starting a thread just for Mansfield for a while now. Some other things we got.

Recently Completed

-Large apartment complex off 360 and Heritage overlooking Mansfield National, "The Regalia"

-Large apartment complex N. corner of Debbie and Matlock, interestingly it's somewhat mixed use as it has GFR in parts

-A Mellow Mushroom Pizza shop in historic downtown at Broad and Main.

-Widening of Broad to 4 lanes between 360 and Day Mair

-Oliver Nature Center, a really beautiful park off Matlock that is worth the drive from FW imo.

U/C right now

-Mansfield Methodist is currently under a large expansion, including several new rooms and a 7 floor tower. It's currently on level 3.

-Jerry Jones's group is building a retail outlet including grocer East of Debbie and Matlock

-Atleast 3 nursing homes within a half mile of the hospital

-Several small suburban subdivion projects, most around 20 homes. Maybe 3-4 of these.

-Wideing of Debbie between Matlock and 360 to four lanes

-Bridge on Heratige over railroad tracks off 287

Proposed

-The council has been working on a comprehensive bike plan for the city, biking in the streets has become very popular here and it's caused some problems. Bike lanes are proposed on several streets.

-There's a family looking to build a 2.5 sheet ice rink and sports center somewhere in town, perhaps near field of dreams.

-Rumors of a large hotel near near 360 nearby the entertainment complex

-2 story bank and office building at Broad and Matlock

-Heritage at the Reserve, a massive project consisting off Texas Health resources hospital, 62 acre "corporate campus" office park, and a 38 acre town center retail area, and large residential tracts. Masterplan for it all.

Another funny thing, we have put a hold on new fast food restaurants because we have had to much traffic lately. I don't think it's going to be getting much better.

You mean like when Mansfield was all west of 287, with the exception of the country club and the high school? Around 1997 or so, my wife (then girlfriend) worked at a preschool across from the old Mansfield High School on Walnut Creek Dr. I dropped her off for work at noon and used Debbie Ln. to get to 360 to go to my job in North Arlington. It was all farmland with a couple of new neighborhoods on the north side of the road. That stretch is wall to wall development now.

I remember walking home from that high school along the 287 construction site.

To us, this was the "old Mansfield High School":

The new development that started this thread is west of historic downtown Mansfield in a pretty undeveloped area. But it's only about a half hour to downtown Fort Worth. Interesting location.

I went to that school from 2000-2001.

We are growing pretty quick down here.

Being from Mansfield, it's great to see all of this development going on. I'll miss driving down a street and seeing open fields all around me, but it seems like it's going in a positive direction.

And the last time I was over there, it looked like that apartment complex on Debbie with GFR, Villas di Lucca, is constructing Phase II

I know there is also a Dallas Stars Ice center being proposed across from MHS on Broad, haven't heard anything new on it but will keep listening.

The City of Mansfield is taking a page from the Fort Worth playbook in annexing a parcel of land just west of 287, as reported in the Fort Worth Business Press.  Humorous note about the headline...when I first saw the headline I thought the article was about the city acquiring either a race track or a railroad track.

They didn't annex the land. It's already in Mansfield. They purchased it. And, yeah, holy headline misspelling, Batman.
