So this eyesore came down last week:

In its place, at Hemphill & Biddison, a community center will be built.

 

The only information I've had is from our SCNA meetings.  Online searches for news have returned nothing, so if you are in the know, please comment.  I'd love to see a rendering.

I knew there was going to be a community center built around that location, but I have never seen a rendering. 

 

I also wonder how this building originally looked before the facade was covered.

I doubt much more attractive.  At any rate, it was filled with asbestos.

 

I think I'll email the president of SCNA to see if he has any more info.  Stay tuned!

 

ETA: Word is the community center should be built by early 2015.
