In the early 90s i leased the firestone building, my detail shop was next door at 1015 w. 7th street. i came to lease it because there was a drug bust at the firestone business and the manager and an employee were arested for it. this was on a friday nite and the business never reopened. All of the buildings had been sold to the comming apartments so they never reopened. by the time i figured out the owner of the property was the nix family out of stephenville , tx . the power had been shut off for non payment, but i leased it anyway, the doors all had the chain system to open them , and i ran power from my building next door.but there were secret walls in the managers office and upstairs. i ended up with the safe that came out of the store, i confirmedwith diebold in chicago that the safe had been sold to firestone. ive always been at the right place at the right time.

The old building has quite a history. In the 60's the building was owned by Lee Hertel who was shot and killed by his wife during an argument after a party at their house. The son gained ownership of Hertel Tires and ran the company for several years after his Dad was killed.
