As some "food for thought", here is the personal wealth, income and debt reported by the leading candidates for 2012 Race for U.S. Senate Texas. Not all chose to report fully. For instance, the salary for Texas Lt. Governor is $7,200. By the way, though not running for Senate but rather a higher office, the salary paid to Governor "Oops" Perry is $150,000 the 12th highest salary paid among all governors.
