I love the boot idea. The concept drawing is even fun.

You could probably get Justin Boots to sponsor it.

 "...and is not possibly controversial."

Too much public art is selected for that very reason. The only controversial thing about most of it is why did it cost so much. I'm not a fan of controversy, but if avoiding it is your only goal, then the only solution is to do nothing.

Allow me to explain. I support the idea of a sign.

The controversy will more than like arise from a divided public who either like or undecided about the image of Fort Worth and those who dislike or want a change in the image of Fort Worth.

If "FORT WORTH"  is selected as was in the case of  "HOLLYWOOD", then there will likely be less bickering.

I looked into the cost of fabricating a giant bronze boot. Since it was pointed out that a pair of 37' feet tall boots (not bronze) are on display in San Antonio, this boot was bumped up to be 40 feet tall. Much bigger than originally envisioned. 5 million (dollars) should do just about cover it.  Any takers?  :-)

I sometimes stop at WestBend while biking along the Trails.  This artwork should be interesting.  Article about it in Fort Worth Business Press.

Fort Worth's newest piece of public art was installed last week, a statue of Wild West outlaws on Houston Street downtown.

Bud Kennedy column in the Star-Telegram: Butch, Sundance and the Wild Bunch in Bronze

"Tourists have already taken to the sculpture, sitting in Butch Cassidy’s or the Sundance Kid’s lap."

You can tell it's not a Sundance property.  If it were, the Joy Police would be guarding the statue against such intrusions.

[Reposted]

With developments such as Trinity Vision/Panther Island, Tabachin Ribbon, Lancaster Corridor and Will Rogers "Riding in the Sunset",  Fort Worth possesses some interesting and worthwhile publicly accessible objects of art in its collection.

A formal dedication planned for this month, December 2017, here is the latest addition to this collection:
