Great news! Better health care for North Texas kids. Development for the near South Side, And more jobs! Anyone have access to a rendering of the new building?

They are making progress on the project and today putting up another crane for the next phase. The NICU wing is almost closed in and patient tower behind it is still making progress.

And so it continues, a new 6 floor, 314,000-square-foot tower where the prayer garden is. Rendering show in the top left.

Notice how Thistle Hill is being surrounded by this hospital.  If a parking garage is built on the lot immediately to the west of the house, there will be absolutely no visibility of it until you are directly in front of it on Pennsylvania.

Steel framing has gone up recently. Here's a live camera you can watch, or watch a time lapse even.

I noticed the framing going up the other day.

Noticed the lighted crane on the way to downtown in early morning.  Appropriate for the holidays!

Is this topping out?  Seven floors?

The building does appear to be topped out.  Austin posted the size in an earlier thread.  The building is seven stories, but I think the top floor is all mechanical, since the building is listed at six stories tall.

two small commercial buildings on Rosedale East of 7th were recently demolished. Not sure what the plans for the site are but assuming Cooks will do something there. Demolition permits have also been filed for the two houses on Southland.

Do you mean the above two nice-looking houses are going to be demolished?

I believe so. Cook's plans on using that block as a temporary surface parking lot.

This may have been addressed elsewhere, but what happened to the original Cook Hospital building on the north side of the old freeway?  I have been out of Ft. Worth for almost 30 years with visits few and far between.

It is now HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital.  You can read about it on the main site at: http://www.fortworth...healthsouth.htm

HealthSouth is updating that building as we speak.  My father was there for a little bit before he died July 4th.
