Fort Worth had its 100th birthday. It was called the Fiesta-Cade, July 16-23, 1949. The big show was at Farrington Field on University Drive and ran for a week. Our Boy Scout troop carried flags in the opening and closing ceremonies. It was an enormous show with cowboys, Indians, horses and cattle. Opening night ran over to about 1:00 am. The show was to end with a giant fire work display and a B-36 bomber flying low over the stadium. Well all this noise and aircraft flying low during the Cold War scared the life out of some of the people in bed. The telephones rang at the police station all night.
