 How come all of these people have millions of dollars and yet we are still millions of dollars in debt right now. In the past four years our debt has grown to an enourmous rate. I mean come on Bush isn't doing anything for the poor people he is just spending all of this money and getting into more and more trouble everyday. Yet some people really still want him to be president. I mean come on when his dad was president we were in war and as soon as he became president we went to war. If you people would realize that then maybe we wouldn't have gotten into all of this terroist war thing. There has probably never been just a really great president, but there are still some good presidents and I'm sorry but Bush just is not one of them. Before Bill Clinton got into all of this trouble with Monica I saw him on the television alot more than I do Bush and Clinton wasn't at war with anyone. It is like Bush is scared to do the right thing and tell the world what was going on.

Another thing, how come if it is supposed to be our president and stuff how come they don't win by the popular vote? That is the stupidest part of our government today. I mean come on if people would sit down and think about other people for once instead of what they just want then this world would be alot better than it is today. But no all of the rich government people get to say who is actually going to be president instead of us getting to say whose going to be president. It is like the government is saying that we are stupid and we don't know anything so we are going to decide whose best for you.

OKay I see that you are class of 06 so you are 16 or around that. I really respect that the political environment interests you so much but their is still much for you to learn and getting an early start is very very good.

Let me help you out on a few issues, politics aside:

Okay, first of all, this is the wonderful thing about this country.  If people want to become millionaires then they have the opportunity to.  I am well on my way and I come from a typical middle class family.  Second of all, having more than a million dollars really does not mean that much anymore.  The national debt is not the problem of "people who have over a million dollars".  As you will learn throughout the years the National debt is more of a symbolic stat rather than one that is too meaningful.  If the government wants to pay it off then all they need to do is raise taxes.  Our debt is well within reasonable limits and easily manageable.  The goal of the Bush Administration was to put pressures on the government by reducing the money available for their budgets.  Lets face it, if the government has it then they are going to spend it.  Also the wartime economies always result in deficit spending.  However this spending is good.  More spending on the government side + more spending on the consumer side =higher earnings for corporations=more money to hire, pay salaries, invest in R&D and push the economy forward.

Okay the war in Iraq accomplished two things, it put the front in the Middle East instead of fighting the battle on our soil and it removed an evil dictator. This is why you see terrorist aggression in Iraq instead of America right now. Bush took out Al Queada, the Taliban and Sadaam. 40 years from now people will look back and say what the US did was good. Second of all, do not be fooled by the people who say that the Iraq war was a Bush agenda. The Democrats wanted to get rid of SH just as bad as the Republicans did. Take a look at the military strikes during the Clinton Administration. There were innocent casualties during that time as well. War is never pretty but it is necessary. There are people who hate and we need to take a strong stand against this. Look at how many terrorist attacks there were today.

Like I said earlier, I believe Clinton authorized more military strikes then all the Presidents put together in the last thirty years. Look no further than the depletion of our supply of missiles during his administration.

Our electoral college was put in place for a reason. I suggest reading up on states rights. The electoral college represents the popular vote but at the same time makes certain that the election is not decided by only a handful of states in the New England. This ensures that presidential candidates do not ignore a lot of the states. If there was not an electoral college, you would not see candidates presenting their message in the Dakotas, or Iowa, or Wyoming, etc.

Only by becoming apathetic does this happen. If you go out and exercise your right to vote, there is nothing more beautiful in a democracy. Never let apathy take over your will to cast a ballot.

Voter apathy is really hurting this nation. When only about fifty percent of eligible voters vote in presidential elections, a lot of polititians take advantage of that. If everyone voted, we would have a completely different bunch of folks in Washington with completely different attitudes.

Shouldn't this go in the miscellaneous section?

Probably.

Voter apathy is bad, and plays directly into the hands of certain parties. Look at all the voters who were 'mistakenly' stricken from the eligible voters list in Florida 2000.
I wouldn't go so far as to accuse anyone of a nationwide campaign discouraging people from voting, but I wouldn't accuse them of exactly encouraging voters either, unless it's their 'base'.
Also, blanket demonization of 'The Rich' isn't constructive. I know some rich people - they're nice guys.
Large societies present complex multifaceted problems, that can rarely be 'boiled down' to any one element.
